A shout-out to Clyde Best. For those of us who are older than dirt, he was great to watch back in the day, and a man who survived the most virulent racism England had to offer.

So it looks like we've seen the last of Ivacic:

I'm sorry, but this is entirely on him. Not starting? Don't whine about it, win your damn job back.

Yep, like him as a keeper and appreciate having confidence in your own abilities, but that attitude is total shit. All on him, and I don’t want that attitude in our locker room. See ya dude. A shame really, I think he’s a really good keeper

Sounds like his agent has ill will for the Timbers after the Moreno debacle, now using Ivacic as his pawn to try to get back at them with the PA complaint. In doing so, has likely poisoned the well (who is going to want a malcontent who will only start, sulk and demand a trade if he doesn't???). Sadly I think we end up with about nothing for him if we can trade him because we will be begging other teams to take him away.

Head case.

Remember when someone here reported about meeting Ivacic before game in the autograph line or whatever and he sorta looked disgruntled? Yeah, the situation has finally blown up. Reading the article, I get the feeling this agent was recommending his clients to us - like were we shopping for talent using an agent?! That is managerial malpractice, if true. No team should rely on any agent to acquire players. Just look at the Galaxy.

Santi reportedly fired this guy. Maybe Ivacic should do the same. I get the feeling he's getting bad advice on how to handle his lack of pt. Asking for a trade is acceptable but as apparently there weren't many takers except for the Revs - maybe a loan outside of tghe league would have been a better idea. In any case, this situation is a mess. This team has way too much drama around it.

All the teams in the league have played three games in the past 7 days by this weekend except Seattle I think, so that can't be an excuse for not winning vs. Colorado.

I wish Mosquera would lock down his side of the defensive line better. He often is not keeping tabs on the attacker behind him on crosses to the far post. I like his contribution on the attack but he is the weak part of the back line. Miller I think makes the defense better but is limited on the attack. He has a good long throw in though.

Antony should get a shot of more playing time tonight with the lack of defensive mids. If he would look up and make the pass before he is surrounded by three defenders, he would be a lot more dangerous on the attack.

Too bad we don't have Paredes, nice to see Acosta shine

Agree - no Paredes and D. Chara makes me a tad nervous for the central midfield. Acosta was really good the other night, but is going to need some help, not sure where that is coming from - probably team effort.

And no Evander due to slight calf injury. I think Acosta - cross fingers - will solidify the midfield defensively. Attack-wise - without Evander it might be difficult. Rapids will bunker or play conservatively enough to try to squeak out a draw.

Nice to see the Acosta and Antony turn up!... and that first Colorado goal - seemed like they pulled it off in the height of goal celebration distraction - scared me a little. Felt like PTFC got caught off guard. Vulnerable that way IMHO.

Anyone heard the latest on Moreno. Does he still want out, or is he happy here now that Gio is gone, or...?

The way Moreno has been playing the last few games, he looks happy now.

Certainly a potential trap game. For the first time in awhile I’m very confident going into a Timbers game, which will surely set me up for disappointment. This is an opportunity for a statement win, to win 3 or 4-0 and keep the good times rolling. Yimmi is injured for this game, and with Moreno probably playing in the midfield I’d like to see Antony start on the wing. I’m not a terribly big fan of the guy and I haven’t seen too much from him, but he’s fast and exciting and we need to see what we have in him so he’s not a total unknown going into next year

Three games in seven days, whew. Crazy. MJ seems to be managing it all pretty well.

No Yimmi? This could be Antony time. I like how they have been bringing him on slowly. Time to see him full throttle. He glides. Can't wait to see him. So, Asprilla and Antony on the wings, Blanco subbing. I like it.

I'm hoping, expecting, to see Acosta shine again vs his former team. I'm also looking forward to Evander and Moreno in the midfield again, a true treat.

I didn't say this in other threads, but of all the players who didn't look particularly strong was Mosquera. I hope he picks up his game.

Does the backline see any rotation?

Also, I've been feeling great about this team, but I just had a slight worry kick in: the backup keeper situation.

I thought Mosquera was the worst player on our team last game, which was very disappointing. I really hope that was just some rust. I wouldn’t change the backline at all, they’ve been working well

Hopefully we get Ivacic back soon so we don’t have to worry about Hunter being the backup, but chances are it won’t matter regardless

Expand full comment

Do you feel like Mosquera was the worst because he didn't play well, because of the rest of the team played well, or a combo? He didn't stand out to me either way but the team as a whole did well. I noticed Blanco's near invisibility more than Mosquera but I think Blanco had some good moments I missed or spaced.

Sulte was dire when we last saw him get first team minutes but does anyone know if he's improved at T2 and, if so, how much? It doesn't seem like he's playing consistently with them but he's also been on the first team bench a lot more than expected with Ivacic being injured, so I don't want to read too much into that. I want him to be the best keeper we've ever had but have seen and heard nothing to give any indication that he'll ever be a starter, much less a potential legend.

Expand full comment

For Mosquera it could be a bit of both but I do not think he played well. There were multiple plays where he gave the ball away, made the wrong decision in transition, or didn’t defend well. Blanco was also the clear weak link after Mosquera, he was not great and gave the ball away in the attack multiple times

There’s really nothing to take away from Sulte’s previous first team minutes. He’s extremely young right now for a goalkeeper, and even younger when he got those minutes a few years ago. Right now he’s an unknown quantity in terms of his real talent level and how good he can be, but right now he probably isn’t ready for first team minutes, which is totally okay

Expand full comment

Mosquera had enough rough day at the office. He's not defending well. I don't know if that's judgement or what. It seems like it ought to be coachable. He's got the tools but isn't putting it all together. He's reminding me of Alvas Powell lately.

Expand full comment

The problem with Sulte is we shouldn't have signed him if he was that raw; should have just let him go to Georgetown. He should be the automatic 1st choice at T2 if he's the future. Otherwise, where's the commitment to develop him? This is a glaring issue with the team - can't develope and seemingly have no intentions of even tring to do so. Yeah, too bad MP isn't Arthur Blank cause unless you have that kind of $$$, an academy really helps level the playing field for a small market team.

With the news about Ivacic, I expect him to be traded in the off season. Sounds like locker room cancer. It's a shame he's under contract another year. I'm glad we didn't have to see Sulte tonight. My friend is afraid teams are going to go after Bingham, who didn't have a great game tonight.
