Guess Cascadia Cup is better than absolutely no silverware but the draw is a bummer given we were up a man. The defense was just awful and the offense...who am I kidding? There was basically no attack except for that hero ball sequence by Anthony.
In short, the Timbers remind me of the Nats when they played Berhalter ball...shielded the defenseand waited for Pulisic to beat the defense. And after seeing the match vs Mexico in which several reserves failed to state their claim to being in the squad, so it is with some guys tonight for the Timbers. Like do you want to be here next season? Should we just give you a plane ticket right now?
The post-red card game was the human equivalent of a fart noise. The Cascadia Cup ain't nothin', and I'm happy that it's comin' home, but wow was that a disappointing result given the circumstances. I'm not exactly optimistic about Wednesday, but we shall see.
Don't know but if they were playing for a draw after being up for a man late in the 2nd half, then math is definitely not their strong suit. Like wow, we got a point and are now tied wiith Vancouver. I thought the goal was to leapfrog the Caps and possibly get ahead of Minny. We would've need Minny to lose but finishing ahead of the Caps would have given us momentum.
even if we had won and the loons lost, we could not have caught up to them based on total wins. why risk going for the win and opening yourself up at the back, thus losing the cascadia cup when there was absolutely no different outcome between a win or a draw?
Minnesota rolled St Louis. Granted the players didn’t know that, but the only meaning of the outcome of this game was Cascadia cup. Win, lose or draw, we were still hosting Van this week.
Yeah well, with the way we're going I don't think home field advantage is going to play much of a factor at all. This team has really regressed the last few weeks. We're playing just like how we started the season. What gives?
I like the idea of refs being willing to give a second yellow for dissent. But this guy wasn't doing anything right, so it's hard to give him any credit for that. Anyway not like you should start on the final game of the season in a rivalry match. Lousy game from the ref.
I'm scared who the backup gk would be. Sulte? Muise? I'd prefer we turnover our current defense and buy some new players. There's also a mf or two who aren't exactly lighting up the pitch.
Hopefully our big players decide to show up for the playoffs, they’ve been largely absent these last few games.
ROFL. Timbers with more possession per stats. Was the possession statistician asleep?
I was thinking that with passing accuracy. Felt like we turned the ball over a crap ton

I take some solace that (in addition to the cup) Brian Schmetzer is in the Seattle locker room absolutely livid with this result.
Did the Timbers think that the draw gave them 8th place?? They acted like it in the final minutes

Ohhhh now it makes sense, thanks
Didn’t matter. Vancouver has a car show or something at BC place. 8 or 9, we were hosting (unless Minnesota lost and Van won).

We have been wrecking at home on average. The BS home field advantage against the Whitecaps is massive.
Sure. But next game didn’t depend at all on the result.
One of the poorest refereed games I have seen in a while. Not just game management, overtly wrong calls over and over. Go back to u11 rec, bud.
I’ll take the cup though.

I tuned in late, but what I saw a ref fully in line with MLS/PRO 2024 standards.
I mean, as a Timbers partisan, you love to see it. But that was just bad refereeing.
Both teams were really going after him after the final whistle.
Equally awful. That end of game goal kick call when it very obviously was blocked by the defender. Ugh….
Cascadia Cup coming home. Suck it Flounders
Well Cascadia cup. Looked like we were happy with the draw the last 10 minutes
and that's just fine. we still won the cascadia cup. we still host at home. we still haven't lost in seattle since 2017.
And didn't give them another ccc berth unless they win MLS cup.
(I don't really enjoy watching Jona play soccer)
We're playing as if we are the team that's down a man.
“The Sounders have been the better team down a man”
String some passes together FFS
We don’t seem to value possession at all.
When the Timbers social media is flooded by salty sounders fans talking about how this ref is BS… they’re right, lol
Good to see Toye out there. He's been sorely missed.
Someone tell the Timbers they're up a man. They don't seem to have realized it.
I'd be fine starting Pantemis and using Crepo's money for defense
