it's wild to me that MLS' draft - sorry, SUPERDRAFT!!!!!! - is probably its least effective way of acquiring talent. Every other league's draft is its primary way of allocating talent to clubs, but in MLS it's almost an afterthought.
Also an afterthought this year: The allocation draft. Timbers can only lose one player, and they'll protect pretty much everyone they should protect; I'm not worried about the fringe players they will leave off their protected list. I would almost expect they'll leave Eryk Williamson off the list, and given how this season went I wouldn't be surprised if they left Pantemis off either; neither would make me happy, because either one would probably be gone if SD had any sense. But given the state of the roster, it would make as much sense as anything else this team does.
As far as free agents go (https://mlsplayers.org/news/2025-free-agent-list), with the absolutely gigantic caveat that I don't like his price tag at all, Aaron Long is intriguing. I'd love the banter of signing Albert Rusnak (I desperately wanted the Timbers to sign him when he left RSL originally), but there's no way the Sounders are gonna let him go after the season he had. But mostly I want the Timbers to go after the Rusnak tier of player overall.
Yeah, it would really suck - I'd much rather they trade him for value. But this FO is so bad at what they do, and since they can only protect 12 players, I could easily see them going "we have a logjam at goalkeeper, can't keep 'em both happy - this is a way out!"
To be clear, I'd love to keep them both, but I'm not sure Pantemis is or should be happy as a backup with how well he's performed when given the chance. And I'm 100% sure Crepeau would not be happy as a backup.
Can’t wait to sign 42 new wingers and deal 3 defenders for $25k GAM.

I wouldn't mind Williamson to go but Pantemis? for 50K GAM, that would hurt.
