I get the love for Parsons and the desire to return to happier times for the club, but I really feel like we need to take a serious look forward. Maybe Parsons has a plan and vision that would put him at the top of the candidate list, and I am all for that. But I really hope the club makes a sincere effort to consider a variety of candidates and it's not just a decision to stick with the familiar and try to maintain like they did with LeBlanc.

It might be that he's exactly the right person for a job here, or there might be other options that are even better. Right now, there are three potential jobs on the soccer side -- there might be a new Head Coach, there will definitely be a new GM, and there might or might not be a President of Soccer Operations going forward.

Exactly, he might or might not be. I just hope that he's not a default option and that they conduct a sincere and thoughtful search. I won't be mad if he's hired for any of the positions as long as we're not just sticking with the familiar just for the sake of familiarity.

Good chat, folks. Bet it was a relief to not spend the hour pondering Just How Deep the crater could still become.

Corners were turned. Let's hope it's a trend.

Note on the Bathals and Sacramento: They're minority owners of the Kings and Vivek Ranadive, the majority owner, is known to be very hands-on. Extrapolating anything from the club's long time in the fail wilderness onto the Bathals can be shelved. They're legit new at sportsball controlling ownership.

What the Bathals did do, was build the new arena and adjacent luxury hotel as part of a very downtown infill development. It was a tricky and complicated project and they seem to have succeeded while not angering the locals. Yet their name is quite unknown here and that might be how they prefer things. Ranadive sits courtside most home games.

Are they done in Sac? Two things:

*We're "hosting" the A's in our AAA ballpark for the next three seasons. The park is owned by Ranadive. One wonders how this could all play out, there's expansion room for the current ballpark in case MLB decides to stay. Two teams sharing it three seasons seems a stretch.

*We're still "owed" an MLS franchise and our soccer stadium, sited and planned, remains unbuilt. The USL club seems not to have the clout needed to build it in the meantime. Add a USL women's squad? Nobody seems to be proposing that ATM.

In sum, two possible major league facilities to be constructed, with the soccer site part of a larger downtown infill project, in process. Might the Bathals be involved in either/both? Will guess they would be very interested in either.

Vivek is the reason why y'all got Vlade and drafted Nik Stauskas. He also wanted to introduce cherry-picking as an offensive strategy. He seems to have found his lane more recently, though, as the Kings have had some sustained success on the court. Not like the Adelman-Petrie days, but success.

We waz contendahs! Adelman was here for the Good Kings Era: '98-06. IIRC we made playoffs each year and his win % was .633. Maloofs were either bored or decided to begin the crater and move to Vegas scheme so he had to go, obviously.

Since?

Eric Musselman, Reggie Theus*, Kenny Natt*, Paul Westphal, Keith Smart, Michael Malone, Tyrone Corbin, George Karl†, Dave Joerger, Luke Walton, Alvin Gentry, Mike Brown.

Malone was Vivek's first coach and Mike Brown is only since Adelman over .500. They're legit fun to watch again, something my kid never experienced her first 20 years.
