Second half of Timbers game at Colorado postponed
The game was postponed at halftime with the teams tied at 0-0.
The Portland Timbers match against the Colorado Rapids was delayed at halftime, and eventually postponed to be completed at a later date. The game will resume with the teams tied at 0-0.
The start of the match was already delayed by nearly two hours due to thunderstorms in the Commerce City area, and during the first half it was clear that there was still heavy rain in the area.
After 45 minutes of scoreless, and frankly hard on the eyes, soccer, the game entered into a second weather delay at halftime. Roughly an hour and a half after that, just about 15 minutes before midnight in Colorado, the word officially came down that the game would be postponed.
The match will be reschedule to a later date, meaning that the Timbers will need to travel to Colorado to play 45 minutes of soccer at some point later in the year. For as dismal as the first half was, the Timbers admittedly have little to lose with restarting the game in a few weeks time.
Portland’s next game will be on Saturday July 15, when they host Columbus Crew SC at Providence Park at 7:30 p.m. PT, in a game where they will honor Diego Valeri by inducting him into the Timbers Ring of Honor.
Moreno has just requested a trade away from Portland. Feels under appreciated and talks for a new contract have broken down. I’m very, very upset right now, and with the amount of players that have had a problem with Gio, I do not see why he should be coach. Moreno is one of our most talented players. This is ridiculous
Just call it a 0-0 draw which it was. Both teams would be happy not to have the loss, both coaches can claim they were the better team, and we don't have to sit through more of that, whatever it was...
