Providence Park Food Menu - Review
Headed to Providence Park this season? The Timbers hosted a media lunch to highlight some of the food fans will find on game days.
The Timbers hosted a media preview for the food that will grace Providence Park this season. They highlighted some newcomers like the chimichurri tri-tip Sandwich, Hawaiian loaded nachos, kalua pork bowls, loaded BBQ nachos, kalbi beef rice wraps and s’mores donut holes, while also reintroducing partners like Killer Burger and Aviation Gin.
We were also introduced to Bold Reuse, a new company partnering with the Timbers and Thorns to make game day more eco-friendly. With reusable drink cups for alcoholic beverages, this is part of the new Green is Gold campaign that seeks to bring a more sustainable matchday experience.
But that’s not what this article is about — you want to know about the food.
Phuoc and I collected a small collection of the foods they had to offer and judged everything with the gusto of food critics and the knowledge of soccer reporters.
What we recommend:
All the nachos:
I’m not sure where in the stadium these will be or if they’ll be available for both teams but if you see ‘em, get ‘em. These will both be your best bet for a delicious snack.
Killer Burger
Tried and true, but you can’t go wrong. If you’re feeling adventurous try the Peanut Butter Pickle Bacon burger for a crazy combination.
How about Society Pie? Their pizza is solid and each slice is humongous. They offer a ton of different options.
Kalua Pork Bowl
Do you want rice instead of chips? This is the perfect option for you! Be careful to make sure your rice didn’t dry out like ours.
Drinks
We talked to Aviation Gin and 10 Barrel Brewing and both offered great game day refreshments. They have options that work for every single person, give them a try!
Do you want to see the STF team go on a tour at Aviation Gin? (Say yes and get us a sponsor).
What you can skip (if you’d like):
Smores donut holes
They just don’t pack enough of a punch for something that has so much potential…
But hey if you like donuts or s’mores, you may like these.
The chimichurri tri-tip sandwich
Honestly, for something that is only going to be served in the club level I was a bit disappointed… but hey what do I know?
Kalbi Beef Rice Wrap
Definitely a solid option, but just feels like it’s missing something.
Don’t Forget!
Humble Pie
Solid pies that do not overwhelm your tastebuds. However, we’d much prefer one with too much flavor.
Browne Family Vineyards
We’re always down for a glass of wine, how about you? It doesn’t pack the powerful taste or aroma we’re accustomed to, but even for a stadium, seems a bit lacking.
At the end of the day it’s stadium food so it’ll likely be overpriced and decent, but I do like that they’re branching out from hot dogs and popcorn, gotta keep things interesting while watching some footy.
Do y’all have anything you’re looking forward to trying?
Go on that tour!!! I'll eat (drink?) that content right up.
You've got to be kidding me.
An absolutely seismic event happened this week concerning the Timbers, whose ramifications are still being sorted out, an event that has a ton of talking points that could be debated and discussed by a lot of your Timbers-supporting readers. And yet in STF-land, it's as if nothing happened; there was no post about it at all, no mention of anything.
It's a match day, and there's been no Timbers-related content all week; no preview, no training report, nothing at all since the Team of the Matchday award post on Monday. And now, after a very active week in Timbers soccer, and a very successful on-pitch start to a new season which you'd think would occasion some sort of post, we get...a puff piece about this year's new stadium food? Really?
I'm a paid subscriber, and I'm generally happy to support your work. And your Thorns coverage and community is absolutely fantastic, and I hope it continues to be that as it's some of the best around.
But y'all either reeeeeeeeeeally need to up your game on the Timbers side of the house, or just become a full-time Thorns blog, as that's clearly where your passion lies and where your focus is.
I'm sorry to vent like this in-thread, but there's also no way to directly communicate with staff (I'm not on social media) so I don't know how else to get my concerns across.
