The Timbers host the Sounders in their final match before the international break, and remaining seven game stretch of 2024. Will Phil Neville’s team put the first game behind them and pick up a much-needed three points? Come chat about it!
Rode their luck with all those corners but I think they held their own. I have to say whenever I watch Anthony I spend the whole time wondering why he's not better. He looks like he should be better.
Antony has way more upside. He plays with his head up for starters and he actually can beat you on the dribble. Melano just ran fast. Plus Antony actually defends.
I'm drained. Those six minutes of stoppage were so stressul. But we got a derby win! Props to Phil for coaching hard and getting the team to fight til the end. And we had to do it without our leading striker and a short bench. Just real happy we pulled this one out as it is the Fish, after all.
I know it's hot. I know we're down a couple of our top players. Etc. Etc. My only ask is that the lads give it their all and inject some 'f*ck shittle' into their mindset before stepping on to the pitch.
We really could've used Mora right now. But the guys are playing hard and fighting for the win. Toye is giving 110% right now. And playing some defense!
Think K Miller needs to actually have a decent match also. He and Mosquera are the weak links on that back line. I worry that Morris is going to run past him (and the rest of the back line).
The game we didn’t want (a 4-0 domination) but perhaps the game we needed (a scrappy, defensively stout 1-0 win). So frustrating to watch Seattle make six subs before we made one, but there were no subs to make. Weird to put Williamson as a false nine instead of putting Ikoba out there, I didn’t love that decision. Very stressful but we really limited their chances
You never know what to expect with these matches. Would have felt better and more confident heading in if JRod didn’t have to sit for his stupid dive.
But the defense actually picked us up. Proved themselves on lots of late corners.
Have to question Seattle’s approach here. As Portland is without two critical offensive pieces and has a defense that plays with its pants around its ankles… Open it up.
We have a grand total of zero difference makers on the bench. It’s really thin in the attack there. The starting lineup needs to win this early. Why didn’t we call up some T2 guys for this?
Just saw we lost the Mora appeal. I kinda figured we wern't going to win that one but have to appreciate the attempt. So yeah we're short handed not just on the bench but also the starting lineup. We really need Ayala and Evander to be good...real good. And maybe if Santi is on and if the defense can keep it together for us to score a goal or two...
Thirteen corners given up, no goals. Amazing.
And zero cards
Hey, it is the Fish's fault they couldn't convert. No sympathy whatsoever.

Lucas Melano 2.0 Go fast, get the ball, lose the ball

Good comparison.
Ouch. But you have a point. And I was thinking after last week that Araujo was looking like a bust a la Melano. Double ouch!
doesn't play comfortably on the ball.. notably one-footed but compare his patience with Evander
Hope Frei is OK. Solid GK, stand up human being

That was an awesome win. Everybody dug deep.
Could someone on the staff tell Crepeau not to try to concuss his teammates in the future?

What about the ref from last week? Can you say the same for him?
My ask for anyone from ProRefs is a very low bar: be competent and unbiased
Ugly game. Beautiful 3pts

While taking friendly fire from his keeper!
Golazo! Just for that beautiful strike alone, JDM gets immunity from me for the rest of this match and next week, too.
It was a lucky deflection but we'll take it
That was liquid.
Who: Portland Thorns vs Seattle Sounders? That would be an interesting game.
hahaha was just thinking the same thing
Moreno needs to play out of his mind tonight
Don’t disagree (same goes for Antony) but really feeling we need a statement game from #10

Great game by Zup and Miller
I swear, if Antony kicks it away again I'm going to go bald. Oh wait, too late.
And they did that stat thing. Please stop doing it.
Ouch!Jake drops an item missed by the O (and maybe everybody?) ...mls made mora's suspension 2 games🤔
So many turnovers...
Good half so far. Shaky when Seattle had control for sure but we look dangerous. Just need a finishing product. Ayala has been outstanding, as usual
It's been fun watching T2 vs. the Defiance. When do the big leaguers play?
C'mon Santi. You can't be that careless with your ball control.
That's Santi. He giveth and he taketh away. Or rather, he taketh and he giveth away.
Seeing way too much of our side of the pitch
If that's not a concussion I've never seen one. Very unfortunate.
I’m a doc and when he stood up he was wobbly; legit concussion for sure. Hope he’s ok.

I thought they did when I saw the sub list.
Nope, Ikoba and Eryk are the only attackers. It’s easy to forget, but Ikoba is a first team player
Maybe I missed it but did we recall Ikoba? Thought he was on loan?
He was recalled, but I don't remember when.
Did the Timbers appeal Mora's red card?
Yes and they lost
I can't find any announcement regarding the result of the appeal.

Post game comments by Neville stated they still don't know if it will 1 or 2 games. So I would assume 2 for now.
Yes, but was the 2 game suspension reduced to 1 or allowed to stand?
They have appealed, but there has been no response yet.
I did miss Dairon tonight.
I miss Dairon every night
Hope they figure out how to defend Minoungou. Made our players look like traffic cones
He ate up Bravo over and over. I wish we were producing/infusing more talent from the second team and youth systems.
There's going to be way more stoppage time than we are going to like.
5/6+. You know it's going to happen.
Six. I'm actually relieved.
I'm betting 8
at least
Nevilles's going to play the cards he was dealt.
Phil is a maniac on the sidelines
What the heck is Kamal Miller doing back there? Can he make a stop without sliding and slipping around? Can he just make a stop standing up?
We owe Miller a debt for what he's doing tonight.
he's killin' it
We could use another goal.
Zivin said Mora has had a second game added for accidentally kicking someone in the head.
MLS describes it as 'violent conduct'. <insert eyeroll>
Total BS
Holy cow!!!!
Interesting quip from TT: J Rod plays no defense!!
How the F**k would he know, Ramsay?
He also said this was the first Timbers match he's watched this year. He's as lazy as any of the MLS.com punditocracy.
Typical derby. Sloppy play all around.
No card. Lucky for Bravo.
I wish they would quit just punting out corners.
Dodged a craptastic own goal. Whew.
