Mike Whitehead, listed as Transition Officer. I saw a photo of him and it looked like the guy MP was talking to. Perhaps they’ve been discussing the GM job.
Also Coffey being not stuck to playing pure deep-lying destroyer. Her ability to push up, forecheck, and distribute is huge. Not sure why Ken doesn’t see that more often.
That game was like it was scripted. Sinc scores the game-winning goal, the rest of front line adds insurance goals by halftime, and the second half is a cruise in which we all get to appreciate Sinc one last time. ACFC looks dangerous for the first five and last five minutes of the game, and not at all in between. It's refreshing to have a fun Thorns game!
I feel pretty un-invested in the playoffs. I don't think we're going to win it all, so up until our exit, whatever happens, happens.
Since I now can no longer take anything for granted (thanks technology!), I will say that that call appears to be horrific.
How hard is it simply to position a drone camera directly above the center of the field?
Don't we have lenses, recorders, and viewers with the ability to zoom in and zoom out without it looking like the Zapruder film? You know, like one of those cool photo viewing machines Deckard used in Blade Runner?
The Prime feed DID have an overhead view, so I’m assuming it was there, but either not to VAR or ignored by them. The overhead view is absolutely definitive. Bad work by PRO all around.
Every stadium has that "all 22" camera - it's required to support the analytics. And VAR has access to it. There is no excuse. BTW - that was also a really bad call by the AR on the field who had an unobstructed view of Thompson.
TBF, the ref did a shit job all match long. Lots of fouls that should have been yellows, lots of fouls not called at all, quite likely a handball within the 18. Just a lot that was not called.
It was at the other end away from me, and I never saw a replay, so I couldn't tell. It was described to me as her hand was behind her back but her arm was out away from her body, which could qualify as "unnatural position." I mean, I could make it look like I'm trying to get my arm out of the way by putting my hand behind my back, but bend at the elbow so I take up quite a bit of additional space.
Why do we even have VAR? This is exactly the kind of problem VAR was supposed to fix. I had to watch from home due to illness in the family, and my partner and I both thought she was clearly onside, as did the whole Prime crew. We were relieved to see it was being reviewed, and then stunned to see it upheld. So VAR just meant the players had to stand around in the cold rain waiting for the same garbage call we would have had without it.
The problem in this case it that what we have is kind of "VAR Lite." Not enough camera angles and no ability to draw lines on the screen for the review process. With either of those (to say nothing of both), reversing the on-field call would have been a no-brainer. This is simply not good enough.
Much as I dislike Vlatkoball, I'm a KC fan for a day on Sunday. And even more so for NC - I dislike them even more but they need to beat Washington tomorrow.
That was gorgeous from Coffey to Smith, and pure gold from Smith to goal.
That was refreshing. And heartwarming. And hopeful. Thanks, Sincy, and goodnight.
Hina is BACK!
No Reyes though, and she was wearing some big shades on the Sinc farewell video, wonder if she took a knock in practice?
Suspended
Ok, but why the oversized, completely dark glasses?
Yeah must have to not even be a sub.
Mark Parsons on the sideline talking to the new head
guy at Raj Sports.
I have a feeling we already know who our new GM will be.
I hope this means they are considering Parsons. We need a new GM that knows what they are doing and the expectations of a thorn.
Who is "the new head guy at Raj Sports"?
I'm curious how MP knows him...

I think everyone can see how important Hina is to this teams success now. They simply can't play their preferred style without her.
I think we missed her as much as Soph...just in different ways.
Also Coffey being not stuck to playing pure deep-lying destroyer. Her ability to push up, forecheck, and distribute is huge. Not sure why Ken doesn’t see that more often.
Exactly! She so unlocks that midfield.
It was really nice for Hina to be able to get involved in the attack rather than stuck as a second six.

That was just heartwarming. Thanks for all the years.
Entire frontline with a goal...we've dreamed of times like these.
And a Sinc hockey assist to go with her goal? We love it for her!
Remember, it's against Angel City, a bottom feeder. But as a gift, it is (so far) a nice sendoff for Sinc.

Soph blasting the offside call with video receipts.

That handball shout was nonsense - her arm was behind her back, if that's given the game is gone

It’s shameful and I want the refs to start taking some accountability post-match for garbage like this.

This team makes you love them.
Really, really glad I was here for that.
AC is rubbish, but that said this is a crispness and cooperation in attack we haven’t seen from KenBall in, well, ever.
I’m going to fanboi and credit Sugita-senshu. But it helps that Coffey is unshackled from deep DM and is forechecking AC like cold Death.
Oh…but I’d add that sixth is waaaayyyy better than seventh. I’ll take Washington any day over Gotham. Any day.

Oh, what a great goal! Chip assist from Hina to Weavs...perfect.
Queen.

Normally I’d speculate that a solid performance like this could spark a mad playoff run. But…we’ve seen this squad cruise then crash before.
So I’m just going to enjoy the SincFest vibe and approach next Friday like this one was a freakish one-off
