I'm glad we were at the game because it was wild. The Timbers looked better than they have most of this season and the D has improved in no small part because of Bravo. Instead of ball watching the boys are actively going after people with the ball and being disruptive. Maybe Ridgy can stay. We shall see.

It became clear that the refs were going to let this game become a wrestling match. I don't remember seeing another game quite like this one where LAFC was allowed to repeatedly assault guys. If MLS ever reviews the performances of its refs they should reprimand this crew.

I'm concerned about Rodriquez. I've commented elsewhere that he seems slow and easily gives up the ball because he doesn't have the escape moves that Evander has. I know that Bravo was trying to set him up the whole game without much success.

I liked the electricity that this game provided. We sit in 121 and the LA fans were amazing the whole game. They did drown out the TA most of the time but they could simply be because we were so close to the former.

Evander was fantastic, he’s stepped it up this year and I’m thrilled. If only that free kick went in… even as a false 9 he did a really good job holding up the ball and drawing fouls. Chara killed it. They had a few good chances at the end but that will happen when you’re playing down a man for that long. LAFC didn’t capitalize, and it’s a deserved, hard fought point. Just so unfortunate that the red card took that game away from us, I was really looking forward to the second half, I thought we were gonna win and make a statement. Now we go on the road and it’s going to be a really tough two match stretch

We were having a discussion post match about the most individually talented Timber in the club’s history. That was sparked by Evander’s performance today. Love him/question him, the talent is undeniable. Also want to shout out Bravo. He is the equivalent of an in match roller coaster ride. Sometimes I scream and cheer like mad, and other times I’m just plain mad. Great defensive effort today though. Proud of the boys. I’ll take a point today and be happy about it. RCTID!

Props to you for giving Bravo some love! He does the right thing most of the time. He's such a smart player who plays with such passion. I thought he'd team up with Rodriguez for a goal today but that never happened. The latter seems slow to me and when there's a defender on him he doesn't have the moves to get past them like Evander does. Seems that all the videos I saw of him were when he was taking wide open shots which this team seldom has.

The first 15 min were great one touch passing, quickness, purpose and breaking of pressure by us and led to two needed goals. After that LAFC asserted itself and most likely we couldn’t keep up that intensity. The first goal from LAFC was an uncontested pass to an unmarked player. The goal keeper could have been better positionally on that. Not much in the second half. Our back up goal keeper makes unreal saves.

Yah, I like him. He plays with a lot of confidence.

At least we salvaged a draw after being subjected to LAFC's thuggery for practically 90 min. Wtg, ref. Strange that a team with all the resources and talent have to play like some Honduras or some other Central American team in a Concacaf qualifer. As for Boulanga, he definitely lost more than a few fans and respect if you look at the reddit mls forum. Max is out next match so guess Pantemis will have to hold down the fort.

Also wish Neville didn't bother to attempt the handshake with Cherundolo; should have walked away right past him. If Phil does wish to speak out, I'd be willing to help pay his fine. The refs got better pay - great - they should also be held accountable.

Good defense to close out that half playing a man down. This team shows grit but still waiting to see a full game. And the trend of giving up one set piece goal per game continues

Down a player against whiny team like LAFC? Ill take the tie

Expand full comment

Ever since Mora exited, we've been forced to play in our end practically the entire 45". That red was a turning point. Maybe we should have seen it coming when Boulanga didn't see red for his arguably violent conduct that culd have injured Max.

Can’t wait to see MLS’ response on that….

Whew that was close

I'll give Lafc this much: they sure know to avoid persistent infringement. They've gotten yellows anything but that particular offense.

Yeah their center back had 3 final warnings.

Liking your chances against Chara is highly illogical

LAFC defense = foul every outlet pass.

This ref is afraid of the cards now. So glad pro is back

He's also afraid of Lafc.

Lafc is getting away with bloody murder; this ref is in over his head.

What happened with the goalie

DOGSO red card.

Someone on reddit said Cherundolo told the players to play dirt against the Galaxy. Might be exaggerating but you look at Crepeau getting taken out...they certainly know how to get away with crap.

He was offside.

Expand full comment

Are they not going to check the offside at all? WTF is going on?

Expand full comment

They did. Weren't you watching? Bravo kept him onsides.

Expand full comment

Didn't look like it, and it didn't look like they checked. Whatever.

Expand full comment

The ref made the VAR "rectangle" sign and _didn't_ walk to the monitor himself, so I think you have to assume the VAR found it unequivocally offside. That's an easy call for VAR, with the ability to stop the video at the time of the pass and draw lines to mark player positions. *shrug*

Maybe get your eyes checked?

Maybe piss off?

Now my feelings are hurt by your incisive critique.

Offense looks better, defense is doing some emergency defendong, but having Bravo back is a positive

Oooh, that didn't age well.

Great first half from an entertainment perspective. Two really amazing goals. Our side areas look vulnerable, but not as much as they sometimes are. Ayala has been quiet and had three really bad passes in five minutes but he’s been alright overall, he’s playing as a dual 6 next to Chara, they’re plugging the middle of the field very well. Him staying home allows Evander to roam around, who’s been awesome. Just hope we can keep it up in the second half, because first half’s have not been a problem at home

Also Rodriguez has been quiet on the wing, but Mora is great up top, he does so much work for us

We had 44% pssession fwiw. Still wish for more but better than I would expect against a team like Lafc. I just gope we can play a complete 90+. Wouldn't expect a 2-1 line to hold up. Gotta sink another one. Or two. But me coming in from about the 13th min and seeing the rest of the first half - am pleasantly surprised.

I disagree about Rodriguez. I have thought he has looked really good and put in a lot of really good work. Plus him being there is part of what opens up the middle on the evander goal.

Love the ref showing him the yellow and he has to turn around. Lol.

Bouanga can fuck off into the Sun already

But but...he's one of the best attackers in the league and is proof how teams are really investing in young talent!! -;)

*if Lafc wasn't Lafc would they even attract that type of player without having to overpay?

True...I'm also remembering his dive last week that bought LAFC an undeserved PK

Jeez LAFC is a whiny team.

Deserved yellow for Palencia. Glad they caught it thanks to Crepeau

Clinical by Evander...exactly what we've been hoping to see from him. As for that lovely assist from JDM - just make him a wingback already and get a right back who can cover form him.

Tooooooooorrrrrrrrrr Evander!!

JDM...whatever youth coach decided he should be a defender should be forced to turn in his license; guy barely has any deffensive instincts.

Had to go out early and just got back in. I see we scored. If Zup is out, then I suppose McGraw/Miller is the cb pairing?

McGraw is still out with a head injury. Araujo and Miller

BEAUTIFUL goal. Mora and Evander have really great chemistry

Ayala, Bravo, and Mora all starting. Zuparic out due to “personal reasons,” so who knows what that means. Two Ayala games in a row, so thrilled for him. Our previous games have been 1-3, then 2-3, then 3-3. We’re winning 4-3 baby
