There have got to be a few USL teams who merit a spot in MLS more than PTFC.

I know we can't do pro/rel in this country but I wish we could , just so there would be real consequences for consistently terrible performance and to give hard working "lower league" teams a chance to shine.

Beckam must be thinking good riddance.... but since we have the best "sound" business decisions...

Another match day, another reflection back to when belowaveragejedi told me to “piss off” when I said many of us knew Neville would be shit 😂

Amazing 😂

Congrats to Phil Neville on guiding another team into last place.

Expand full comment

His specialty

Just a thought: we could have hadNnacy. He was available before the Crew hired him. And he was actually successful in Montreal with a crazy owner. What's the difference between him and Phil? The playing resume and name recognition? Aside from being a minority coach as that's obvious.

Expand full comment

It's all about the name. I'm convinced MP hired him in the hopes he'd get to meet Beckham.

Expand full comment

Am I wrong in seeing Neville as someone who just shouldn't coach soccer, and getting all his coaching jobs because of his (minor) celebrity status?

Expand full comment

Terrible display against Shittle today. The team play is poor. The coaching is atrocious. No passion. No fire. No cohesion. Not fun to watch. Fire the owner. Fire the coach.

Expand full comment

I’d love for them to fire Phil and the team immediately bounce back 😂

We are hot garbage. 🗑️

So much for cheese being good luck.

Expand full comment

This club is absolutely broken and that's a shame. We were the premiere team at one point. Feel like we are a reminder of mls 1.0 anymore.

0.83 PPM so far.

Looking good, Neville. Good thing your job is completely safe or you might be a bit worried about things.

Expand full comment

It would be so fitting for MP, this front office, and this oach if we ended up with the wooden spoon. The final humiliation, hopefully. Other than just finishing last in the league what other result could spur change?

Expand full comment

The threat of relegation. But, we don't have that so we are stuck with this arbitrary nonsense.

Expand full comment

Finishing last in the league in consecutive years comes to mind…

Expand full comment

Lmao and we are dead last in the west. Last place in the west and just lost to an injured and old ass Seattle team. But of course people will still show up to games and not actually make demands for change by not showing up to games. Not buy concessions. Stay silent all game. This team doesn't doesn't deserve fans in the stands. Neither does mp.

Expand full comment

Thing is, lots of us have work and family and commitments and can only get to so many matches in the first place, and therefore aren't going to be part of such a boycott, simply cause that would mean not going to see live soccer.

Besides, I kinda find poor / terrible performance informative and even entertaining to be honest...

They disappeared mid season in 2012 after Spencer was fired and it was made clear we weren’t trying until 2013. The TA turned on the team during the CalFC debacle. I wouldn’t be so sure it won’t happen again.

because the timbers ar. y has always been the answer to our problems. /s

Expand full comment

Maybe it's happening already. Small kids would need headphones for a derby game. Today it only go loud when Chapman was being stupid

Expand full comment

Welp. Is this rock bottom? I doubt it. This team is Blazer-esque. Some flash, but no clue how to play as a team in any phase of the game, mostly made up of guys who would ride the bench elsewhere. We are just bad.

Expand full comment

Depends what you call rock bottom. The Cal Fc debacle was a low point. So was the 5-2 loss the Gals. If you're meaning this season alone, you migtht be right. Personally speaking, I thought just hiring Neville meant we hit rock bottom. We were in toruble before this season started and them MP said "hold my beer".

Expand full comment

Well okay then...um...

How 'bout them Thorns?

Expand full comment

I hate our coach. No intensity. No plan in attack. . Can't defend. He's a joke!

Expand full comment

We score once over the top with Mora, Seattle adjusts to the game plan and they’re good the rest of the game. Early in the year we had offense but no defense. Now no offense and little defense.

Expand full comment

I hate to say it but if we're going to play this way - just get Moyes. He's going to leave West Ham after this season. I'm not saying I want him and his record after leaving Everton has not been good. And as an Everton fan, it was tough at times to watch during his tenure but he did keep us up. And team was organized. Plus Donovan actually looked good playing for him. To his credit, Moyes does appreciate possession.

Expand full comment

Moyes might stay after they soundly defeat Man City on the last match of the season!!

Will Moreno EVER learn how to finish?

Expand full comment

Love how we just leave all that space out wide. Wash, rinse, and repeat. Doesn't matter if home or away much less the weather. Wonder what the game review sessions are like. Maybe they skip over that part cause such lax defending would be quite apparent on tape.

Expand full comment

I can't believe I have to hope for a draw against a poor Flounders team

Expand full comment

I think maybe we all need to storm the pitch and refuse to leave until they provide a half decent ref. Infuriating.

Hard to watch

Pass to a stationary player. Pass to a stationary player. Rinse. Repeat

Expand full comment

Miss an easy pass to a stationary player….

Expand full comment

Was just saying the same. There is absolutely no movement off the ball. Zero. As soon as someone gets it, they don't have a anyone running into space

Expand full comment

Seriously, we are probably one of the bottom 5 teams in the league. By that I mean, probably every other team I have watched looks waaaaaay better than we do. They are 2008 barca and we are 2011 timbers.

Expand full comment

2011 Timbers had five wins after 11 matches. We aren't even close.

Expand full comment

Teams are allowed to freely operate around our 18. You can see how we operate around midfield as team press us.

Expand full comment

i was really hoping that i (and many many others) was wrong about Neville. But it is really pointing to poor coaching. Other teams have figured out our “system” and our players haven’t.

Expand full comment

Does Phil even have a system? I'm not sure. He wants us to possess more, yeah? Too many coaches these days say that but they really don't have a plan fo play that way. And you can possess in different ways. To be honest, Neville's track record with Miami should ahve been a clue; he had resources and still couldn't get them to play even semi coherently. Their defense was and still is a disaster but under him, their attack was clueless.

Expand full comment

This team sucks at almost every level. Can't build up in the attack. Can't defend the space. Can't press. Can't make decisions on the ball fast enough. players have zero passion. Almost all players are average at best mls players. Some aren't even that. Only Evander chara and mora are good enough for mls.

We have literally turned into a 1990s mls team with lobbing the ball forward. Everything about this team is not enjoyable to watch.

Expand full comment

it’s the MLS. The players are fine, some are good. But there is no system/structure and hasn’t been for 3+ years. Even good players will look like crap when the only coaching is to work harder, shoot better, and stop making mistakes.

Expand full comment

So JJ was mentioning about defending space and passing lanes? Yeah, we're came out of the locker room fired up and ready to play.

Expand full comment

Hey look, things happen when you actually take a shot

Expand full comment

I need someone more hip than me to explain the Coach? banner behind Seattle's bench

Expand full comment

This team has zero clue how to defend space and passing lanes as a team. We’re pressing but they play through it easily, like they aren’t even bothered. They constantly have an open man or two, it’s so frustrating. I don’t want to go full Matias Almeyda, but I feel like we need some lessons in man marking, because their players just float freely around the field and it’s like we aren’t even trying to defend them

Expand full comment

And that’s how that goal comes. Just so easy to pass around us, even at the top of the box

Expand full comment

As this Flounders team is very underwhelming, my fervent wish is that someone in the Timbers locker room is lighting a fire under the Timbers and they come out with a passionate sense of purpose.

Expand full comment

I feel like Alan Rickman in Die Hard.... Shoot... the....ball!

Expand full comment

So what are the odds if the Sounders keep fouling Mora that Chapman will call persistent infringement.? I'm guessing slim to none.

Expand full comment

Expecting total inconsistency with lots of yellows for soft fouls or non fouls in the 2nd half.

Expand full comment

If we were the away team he would have already. He never will for the home team.

Expand full comment

Looks like the Sounders have complete freedom to foul Mora as much as they want today without any risk of a foul being called.

Expand full comment

Never a good idea to leave Rudiaz unmarked.

Expand full comment

I really really dislike Alan Chapman

Expand full comment

So a guy had to jump out of the way for a shot while offside and it isn’t called? Interesting.

Expand full comment

Yeah he was clearly offside so the only thing that might make sense is if it actually ricocheted off a Timbers defender and Morris wasn't offside at that point. I want to see that one again.

Expand full comment

It looks like it hit Zuparic's foot on the way in, but if Morris was offside and in the line of sight of the keeper during the initial shot, does it still count?

Expand full comment

It was actually Miller that it hit, but I still think Morris being offside should have negated the goal. I'm sure we'll hear more about this one.

Expand full comment

I would really like PRO to put this one up for the weekly review. I betcha the ref forum on bigsoccer is about to be lit up, if it hasn't already.

Really nice chest pass. Keep it up! Blow out the fish!

Expand full comment

I am terrified to be the home team in a Chapman officiated game.

Expand full comment

Glad to see Evander is on the bench at least though just unfortunate that Bravo is out again. And Araujo did pick up that injury last week so guess not a surprise that he;s out. Who knows with this match cause both us and Sounders - us even more - are not exactly lighting up the league.

Expand full comment

Do we have a new sponsor!? Tillamook is on three front of their secondary kits today. 🤞🧀

Expand full comment

Was just going to the mention that! If true, that's huge. Think most of the supporters wanted Tillamook!

Expand full comment

Wonder what Phil's "BIG" changes are for this match?

Expand full comment

Evander looked fine in warmups must not be 90 minutes fit

Expand full comment

Gut the fish!

Expand full comment

Evander on the bench, Bravo and Araujo out with injury, which hurts. It’s never a good idea to read into lineup graphics but it reads like a 4-3-3, so that might be a possibility. It’s my first game of the year at providence park, better be a good one! Last Mother’s Day when I attended we beat Vancouver, so hoping for a similar performance
