It was good to see the Timbers have a good fun game that they won. Great to see Dairon and Seba score, get three points against a good team. Great for the fans. This season won't have some crazy turning point -- it's just not in the cards, I think -- but if it can just have a few more positive arcs like this, I'll be happy, and then we can retool in the off season.
We managed to survive...just barely. Can't believe we wasted that two goal lead that Asprilla gave us. Guy leaves the pitch only to see the side almost completely collapse. But we got a big W for Maestro.
I only ask that we send Loria to some usl team taht can use his chaotic style of play. If Seba can play 45" every week then let him start and maybe sub him out at the half. I don't care but Gio needs to get over it. Play the guys who can give us the most chance to win...Ivacic, Blanco, Moreno.
If I'm Ivacic I'm even more pissed off. The defense was worse than usual. Yeah, it was Columbus but you could tell they were in double panic mode.
Ivacic plays that game we give up 3 more goals. Ivacic is rigid at the back. Teams dump it over our center backs heads and bad things have been happening. When it isn’t him the defense knows they have a keeper sweeping that stuff up.
That's not saying a lot. Especially given he earns as much as any three of them. Not to mention the best ability is availability, not exactly his strong suit.
He was barely injured before this year. He was our iron man, he was playing almost every minute of every game in various positions running his ass off. I literally jinxed us at the beginning of this year saying one of his best attributes was never being injured lol
Not an iron man this year, is he? He's already missed 9 out of 23. And thanks for helping make my point about his lack of production even when playing. Played all 34 last year and had all of 4 goals and 3 assists. DP worthy? Not even close. Thankfully we can dump him after this year, or at least bring him back on a contract more commensurate with his production.
Yes we all know about his lack of production. We also know about the various positions on the field he’s had to play throughout his time here. We also know about the plenty of other attributes he has that contributes to the team. He’s just an all around really solid player who isn’t as goal dangerous as we want, and I think we saw his quality on display last night whenever he had the ball

And this is where the talent issue crops up. He was starting to develop chemistry with Williamson when Eryk went down. Right now, hard to see the midfield options that he can play with. Boli I think up front but not sure abou tthe other striker options. Baseicall the front 6 is kind or dire with regard to suitable teammates.
I keep reminding myself that we're playing Columbus and not Colorado. But geez, the back line is even worse than usual. But Gio proabably thinks it doesn't matter who we play at keeper.
Really not liking playing Evander as an 8 in a 4-3-3. He’s barely been involved because he’s forced to one side of the field and covering defensively, which is not where he’s good. I want him in a more free role further up the field
Paredes was great defensively this match though. He should be more of a 6. Might be more of an heir to Chara than Ayala. We'll find out soon enough... I worry Williamson might not be back, at least not for long. I like the idea of a midfield 3 of him, Paredes, and Evander though. I haven't seen enough of Ayala to have much opinion.
