The defense once again cost us points. Whoever thinks we need a no 9 should be forced to watch this match on repoeat and explain why we need a new striker. Seriously. This crap is old. Spend $$$ on defense. Unless you want Giroud to run us over the second he gets to lafc.
Also I think Sawyer Jura has just come on! A homegrown!? Mindboggling. Neville talked about youth in his debut presser. Always wondered how serious he was about playing kids. Guess we'll see if this is just an one off or now.
Don't think they can sign him to another short-term contract this season. He reached his limit. Earlier in the season I read somewhere that Jura and another kid might get signed full-time next season.
Just wanted to say..it was a nice thought. If we could put Chara in the back then that would expand possibilities in the midfield - maybe Williamson or a transfer. The lack of pinpoint passing from the midfield has decreased goal scoring opportunities. A truly great passer that can mesh with both Evander and Ayala would really help.
And Evander just like that gets the equalizer. Now that was a great killer pass and Evans effort to get into position and get a foot on that ball...wow. What's the current temp right now? Still 102 degrees? I didnt think we'd see 4 goals given the heat. Sheesh.
I know we've beaten the defense issue to death but another lingering problem is the inability to do pinpoint passing in tight quarters or even during run of play. Plenty of times guys make indidivual choices to make useles passes or just cough up the ball under pressure.
Just like the usmnt's inability to play consistently from match to match, our defense can't close down consistently every week. Heck, they usually just give up goals rather than amking stops.
I think they were expecting a foul to be called on the play on Ayala, but you really can't let things like that affect your play, just like when players get beat when they are asking for an offside, or in the case of Diego Chará last year, end up getting a handball because of it.
Yep. And we've been getting calls on pens as of late. Think the guys are kinda expecting the refs to keep doing so - make calls that go their way. The composure part - letting things affect them really reminds me of the nats, ie Weath red card.
It has been for many years, at times. I remember back in the USL era a Minnesota Thunder player tripped on the turf when dribbling without a Timbers player within 10 yards of them and the ref called a foul, on the turf, apparently.
Not sure the defense ever really left. We've been on a decent streak as of late but we've given up multiple goals alaong the way. Just wish Ned & company are watching the Cop and the Euros for possible new defenders. We can only hope.
Couldn't ask for a better start. Now keep it up, get another goal or two, and play the rest of the game at like 60% so the team doesn't die of heat exhaustion.
Jona, Jona, Jona.....
I know we need defensive upgrades, but I feel like we blew way too many clear scoring chances on this one.
And our offense is still just fine. But our defense, well, we don't have a defense, really.
I would really hope for some summer transfer help but I get the feeling that just won't happen.

We're not good enough. Need summer transfer help.
ProRefs are hot garbage

Guess defeat was snatched from the jaws of a draw.
ooooooooooof
Nice own goal there.
I feel like Jona could have at least 3 goals in this game...
Last match, too, even though he had the winner.
Interesting to see Chará in that outside defensive position, but I really think that's an upgrade from Mosquera.
Well I cursed that, didn't I?

93, feels like 102 according to the Google weather frog on my phone. Truly unpleasant. Of course it's gonna be pushing 100 here all weekend, so...
Nice recovery, sweet goal. That was a fantastic pass from Antony.
Well done on the quick response by Antony and Evander.
Buckle up…
Yep, our notorious leaky defense shows up again.
And just got beaten on a set piece...again. 2v1. Yeah, Timbers defense never really left. Has just been in hibernation.
Set piece defending had gotten better in the last few games. It's regressing to the mean in real time.
(I know that's not how regression works but still)
For real. The inconsistency is driving me - and you, I'm sure - nuts.

Snatching defeat…

Very poor positioning by Arauio

Made it look easy, dammit. Lots of ballwatching from the Timbers there.

Way too easy...
Clear foul on Ayala in the buildup.
Tripping over your own feet is a foul now. You do you ProRefs

Cue the Benny Hill music...
I thought we'd seen the last of that Timbers defense for a while...they can go away again, they weren't missed

Current RealFeel temp in Dallas is 102°. No thank you.
