These guys again? The Timbers travel to LA to face LAFC for the second time in three weeks. Can they get the better of the black & gold this time? Come chat through it as we find out!
I thought the attack functioned ok without Evander but when you have a defense that can't do the basics properly like clearing the ball; defending 1v1, shutting down angles + runs - this result was predictable. Max did yeoman's work stopping balls but he's just one guy though a big wall. And after LAFC scored the game winner, there was a shot of Phil on the sidelines just staring like he lost his best friend. Yoo hoo Phil - this defense sucks. It gest fixed for we will finish last in the West. Cause this backline and its rotating case of average defenders can't stop anybody right now.
If you watch that last LAFC goal real close you can see Zac fall down 3 separate times. Remember when he wasn’t the biggest liability on the field? Good times. I miss 2022 Zac.
Say what you will. This team is interesting. So is LAFC. They could have curbed stomped us. But they let us back in and needed the red to seal it. I don’t understand this silly game.
We're Miami without the GOAT and his Barca buddies. You need that kind of attack to overcome a ultra rappy defense. And we don't. Especially when Evander isn't on the pitch. And even with him, odds are he isn't enough.
If for some dumb reason we manage to dig ourselves out of this mess we're currently in and get into mls cup final - or any final - Max Creapeau deserves some knd of MVP. Outplaying Lloris, imo.
Mosquera been really poor on offense and defense, same with Antony. That right side has been rough. Bravo has been great, we need to get the ball more to that side because Rodriguez has been dangerous
Agreed. But, to be fair, JDM isn’t the only problem. Bad passes that spring LAFC counters, whether in midfield or in the attacking third, are killing us. Can’t score that way and it forces us to chase. It’s hard to defend well from behind the play.
I had some shaky hope that we'd get away with an 0-0 tie at the half and maybe a goal in a resurgent second half against odds and performance --- but that got blown away quick. ...
To be fair, Boulanga would has made may a defender in this league look silly. It's that Mosquera doesn't know how to play defense so Boulanga is playing against essentially no one on that side. I actually suspect that if you put up a poll asking who's the better defender: JDM or orange traffic cone - traffic cone would win. In a landslide.
Mosquera and Anthony having pretty bad games. Anthony turned the ball over so many times passing it to no one. Mosquera can’t follow Bouanga despite knowing he’s their dangerous man. No service to Rodriquez other than that cross (to Mosqueras credit that was a great cross). This game could easily be 3 or 4 zero
My gf is pretty positive when it comes to the Timbers but even she turned the game off. It's an embarrassment to our city and team and I'm sorry but a majority of the players from the gw era need to leave. Lazy AF
Fully agree. Chara was caught ball-watching and was late to initiate pressure. Once he did react it was a seeming half-effort. There were a number of times throughout the half that Chara was either a half-step behind the play or made what I'd consider--by the standards of even, say, a 35 year old Chara--somewhat casual efforts at blocks. He'll forever be my favorite Timber of all time, and I have no doubt his heart is in it as much as ever, but--the reality is that a 38 year old athlete's "quick burst" muscles are gonna hit fatigue and failure much sooner in a game than those of younger player.

Gah!
I'd just like to finish a match vs. LAFC with 11 players, someday.
And I'd like to play LAFC with a ref that actually cards them properly for the crap they've gotten away with ever since they entered the league.
hey, at least the Thorns won today!
A loss that felt like a fuck Ismael forever

I will definitely take an exciting loss over a boring one
SWIWS!

anyone see what was the reason for Neville's yellow card?
Poor Max. So many amazing saves but only so much one man can do.
Half expecting to see Bravo at the far post saving the day again.
Set pieces man
Defense in shambles. It's the sequel to Groundhog Day.
We belong in the relegation zone....
Poor Max man. He did EVERYTHING he could.
that was a freakin rocket.
If Chara got a yellow for what he did, Atuesta deserved one there.
Phew, Ayala. What a relief. I’m sure he’ll have a massive impact on the game… 🙄

Well I am glad I didn’t stop watching. This has been an eventful half
Say what you will about PTFC, it's certainly entertaining soccer
Crépeau is playing out of his mind right now.
Nice save by Crepeau! I thought that one had snuck by him
Seems like we saw this two weeks ago vs. LAFC in Portland.
it's deja vu all over again
And there goes any hope of 3 points. The winless streak grows
And here we go again.. snatching defeat from the jaws of a draw?
For THAT?! You gotta be kidding me.
Do we have hope with DISCO?
Highly doubt.
Three things in life are true: Death, taxes, and the Timbers being a second half team. Unbelievable.
And Chara accumulaing yellow cards like they're collectibles.
Don't forget ProRef ineptness...
maybe four including Chara getting yellow cards
Nothing all game and then the equalizer! A heck of a shot! Yay Santi!
A very Timbers comeback indeed.
This team does not give up. Gotta love that. Years past we'd just curl up into a ball.
What a wacky shot that was too.
Well, imagine that
I like deflected goals when they go our way, now and then.
Lol gol
SANTIIII damn!
Good for John for finally getting one past Lloris. Again, dumb dumb defense means the attack is under extreme pressure to score, score, score.
Finally.......FFS
JRO!!!!! at last!!!
JON! Nice freaking shot.
That was a really nice finish by Rodríguez. The Timbers overall have looked better this half.
Sit Moreno, move Eryk up front, bring in Ayala; sit Antony, bring In Dairon... Paredes for Chara soon...
Chara, you beautiful human....
EW invisible..Mosquera benchable..still no buildup, with Anthony and Moreno passing to nobody

Hard to know who is more worthless, Mosquera or Kamal.
I've been very underwhelmed by Miller's signing. Mosquera is a goal allowed waiting to happen so take your pick...
Mosquera in my opinion. Maybe it's just the camera angle but I'm watching Boanga rip right up the left and create near goals with impunity...
*of course, I'm blocking that own goal from my memory

The Timbers defense was schooled in the first half, and didn't get a passing grade.
To be honest, I'm not sure the defense has gotten a pssing grade at all this season escept for the opener.
Excrement.
Where is Zupa?
Hopefully far away never to return.
The best cb we have and you want him gone. 🤣
Yep. Don’t miss the walk abouts and the early drops.
Well considering what we have now he probably is one of our better options. I was just curious though about where he is.
Credit Chara for that goal. Left Tillman alone in space.

Chara could have stepped quicker but Moreno had position and let Tillman run by as he jogged his ass back
You're right. Chara really should share a bit of the credit.
Dogs hit team with a dogs hit coach. Mp should sell so we can get a real owner who can hire a real gm, a real scout and a real coach. What a joke.
