With just three games left, the Timbers are in the thick of a revived hunt for a return to the postseason. Can Portland make it five in a row and beat LA? Come chat through whatever happens in the match thread!
On a night where so many results went well for Timbers, this result and the goals given up are a significant disappointment. I will agree with others that this team has shown itself to be suddenly very proficient at scoring but I’ve always been partial to a very solid defense and the performance last night in that regard left a very bad taste in my mouth. And honestly the defense lapses that we saw had nothing to do with over extending ourselves on offense. They were just brain-fart plays. How does one guy get an open header between 4 defenders...? And yes teams have figured out who the weaker corner back is on this team defensively. Mosquera’s got to up his game defensively or get sit out or get moved up the pitch and someone else do his defensive duties.
So, I'm critical af when it comes to my Timbers, but I just have to say, we are playing a competitive, fun style of football and we are in a position to make some waves in the playoffs. My point being, when the calendar flipped to July, I didn't expect anything close to this. A result away to LA, even the shitty LA is something I'm good with. Fucking RCTID!
Was happy to see that. I went to their first home game when they played us. Horrible result for us, but the Cincy fans were very cool. Invited us to their prefunction and waited after the game to hang out. Still hoping they play here sometime so I can return the favor.
Still gotta work on overall compure and focus for a full 90. Still gotta fix the defense. That said, I really really liked that we kept attacking after going down. Gio would have folded like a cheap tent instead of making the effort to equalize. I also liked the subs; we just couldn't convert for the winner. Just gotta hope Paredes is ok. But at least we got a point and that's better than a L.
Absolutely no way Chara gets any significant minutes next week. He's started working out again but hasn't even started playing. By next week, he will have been out almost a month. No way he is match fit. Hopefully Evander can come back because otherwise we're toast.
Is Diego all healed up or has age caught up to his abililty to magically recover from whatever ails him? Just having Evander back would be a big help. At this point in the season the guys will just have to suck it up.
10000%. Our counter pressing the last several games has been elite and created so many chances. Our regular pressing could use some work, but our counter pressing is a joy to watch
Had three great chances to win it at the end there, damn. I’ll take a point on the road though, especially with how that game went. It says a lot though when we get a hard fought tie on the road and we feel disappointed because we expect more from the team at this point. That’s a really good feeling
Ugh. Today's games went our way. This win really would have set us up for a good chance to top 4 to end the season. Now we gotta see what happens with all the games this Wednesday. Everyone pray for good fortune on Wednesday.
Losing Paredes really shook up the team. Having a relatively inexperience Caliskin also didn't help. Plus add to the missing backline/mia fullback. You get the picture.
Endless crosses has never been our thing. Wish we would stop crossing it so much right now. Our turn around has been great because of our build up to goals. We should continue that.
Williamson isn't a strong defensive player and ayala has never solidified himself as a regular player. So their loss is not that impactful on the defensive side. However, could you imagine a Williamson, Moreno, Evander chara midfield in a diamond 4-4-2. That would be scary offensively
Except that Erik is a ball winner; sure helps to have a guy like that to help maintain possession. As for Ayala, player avaiilability allows for player rotation. That said, Gio never really seemed bothered by our low possession % so I doubt he would have tried that diamond 442. Maybe next year. Me? Just fix the backline..several seasons overdue.
Mosquera certainly had a forgettable half; hopefully he gets told in the locker room to start being interested in defense. We have a short bench so I guess Miller would be next man up. And Mabs at cb. Otherwise, not much depth for the back line. Guess the front six just gotta score another goal or two.
Big big challenge for Miles Joseph for the rest of the game, the Galaxy are doing very well to disorganize our defense and midfield and finding open pockets all over the place. Positional tactics gotta change and we need to get on the ball more, especially Moreno
What in the actual fuck are our CBs doing? One of the worst defensive showings I’ve seen this year, including when we were rotating in random T2 players.
Neither does Bravo. I hope the offseason focus will be strengthening the defense cause we sure incur poor form; injuries, etcwith that specific part of the roster.

I know it's not the cool, uncompromising ultra pov, but I'm legit just happy to see the boys for where they are vs where they were.
Shoutout to Cincinnati for going from worst to shield.

I wonder if it will be DChara with Acosta next week or maybe DC will start on the bench. Hopefully we can get Evander back too.

While I agree for the most part, an almost match fit DChara is still going to be better than any other defender we have

One of my favorite things to watch is a good counter-press and Timber2.0 have it.

Would have been nice to capitalize with how things shook out in our favor earlier in the day, but a road point will do.

Mabs missed a winner
I was so ready to eat sit on how I've talked about him this season. I wish it had happened.
LA is trying to give us this game
So many wasted chances
Losing Paredes really shook up the team. Having a relatively inexperience Caliskin also didn't help. Plus add to the missing backline/mia fullback. You get the picture.
Still gotta put chances on frame
Uh oh here comes Mabs. That said, he's solid on headiers so maybe part of MJ's thiking.
Endless crosses has never been our thing. Wish we would stop crossing it so much right now. Our turn around has been great because of our build up to goals. We should continue that.
I'll take endless crosses over endless possessions surrendered any day of the week. At least it's an effort.
Sorry..maybe just me..but I don't want to hear strategies for Galaxy to make the playoffs from a national "neutral" broadcast team.
This is one of blancos best games off the bench this year.
We want it more right now. There were times this year we looked like we wanted to be at home more. This is a good thing to see from us.
Mcgraw time ?
Blanco providing some spice tonight which seems to be just what we needed.
Blanco has been awesome since coming on.
That's the first thing I thought when he came on. We are getting fouled off the ball a lot. Blanco is gonna come in and add some of our own fire.
Acosta is on fire!
Yah he is
Acosta has proven to be a very good acquisition.
Great hustle BA
That pressure by Acosta. Ffs I eat it up. I absolutely love that hustle
Remember the halcyon days of the Adi era? Yeah, Mora gives off similar vibes right now.
We love garbage goals😃
When opportunity arises! Nice job Mora.
Get stuck in Mora
Blanco and Boli. At least MJ recognizes we are down a goal and need to keep attacking.
Mosquera plays like Asprilla years back..raw talent..needs discipline
We’re getting Dickerson-ed tonight.
So the Galaxy announcers gave crossed over into fandom
We need some subs. We look tired
Paredes goes out and we give up two goals. Maybe we can handle chara out but chara and Paredes is an ask. It has shaken our midfield
because those are the two best preforming players on our team.
Let's not forget Ayala and Williamson going down earlier; the injuries have really taken a toll on the defensive side.

Ball winner? We gotta go to the thread on that one.
Mosquera certainly had a forgettable half; hopefully he gets told in the locker room to start being interested in defense. We have a short bench so I guess Miller would be next man up. Mosquera’ s side is wide open the entire half.
Shambolic defense so far
yikes. 2 different guys could have had that one. Set piece defending is a plague we'll never solve.
Yep, same old defense. Still can't close down attackers. Good thing our own attack is matching up. This match right now is a shootout.
Wasn’t it a 5-2 win in LA that sort of started the 2015 run? That’s on the table tonight.
My memory's a little fuzzy but that game certainly was a high point. That 2015 title run was a wild ride indeed.
Ugh, bad clearance by Calliskan
Unlucky clearance.
5-5 game anyone?
At least the Galaxy can say they didn't give up that goal due to a handball. Just ask Kai Wagner.
I don't know about the rest of you but this season is starting to have 2015 vibes.
Just how you draw it up, lol
Well that makes me feel a lot better. Funny how when you play better, you get lucky more. Gotta make your own luck
Pinball goal. I'll take it
hahahahh. cross of his face and in
Mosquera just has no interest in defending...
Neither does Bravo. I hope the offseason focus will be strengthening the defense cause we sure incur poor form; injuries, etcwith that specific part of the roster.
Well, at least Paredes is walking. That said, I'm about to switch to the Spanish feed so I can save myself from Bretos or whoever.
