Last 20 minutes we continued to give the ball back to Louisville. It almost looked like we were daring them to score. They were unable to do so.
10 points from 4 games. Will be clear of everyone top of the table. No matter what happens tomorrow. Women's UEFA Champions League Semi Final tomorrow morning starts 6:30 AM our time. Will probably sleep through it.
I can see why she was pissed; took a boot right in the breastbone. But it was a pure accident as the defender tumbled. Not a foul or anything the referee could affect.
I’m still okay with tonight but I kinda want to see how we do against Seattle or SDW in the league. Racing has looked pretty crap. Not Orlando-crap, but crap.
Agreed- Though that said, the Thorns have developed a habit of making the non-top teams look really bad...which is a trait the best teams have. Louisville’s actually looked quite good so far this year, and the Thorns have made them look useless.
Well, we agree they’re crap tonight. Let’s see what happens when we meet Seattle. The Thorns kinda have a record of having trouble with some teams m. FCKC in 2015. WNY in 2016, NCC in 2017-18…if we can’t best Seattle we got problems .
So I’m okay so far. Put away the gimme putts with the help of some clever dummies, but probably left two or three more on the table. Long stretch (5-40’) when the passing in the final third and out of the press wasn’t there. If Racing was anything but utter crap I’d be a little more nervous .
Thorns 2v1 the non-elite teams to death on the attacking midfield with Dunn playing like she is. Howell’s been completely overwhelmed by the Sinc/Dunn combo and Soph dropping deep creates additional overload.
Still some concern playing out against the better teams, but I love how much space the Thorns create for Soph and Morgan by playing with the two 8s.
Yeah, every time I groan that she’s too slow to catch a pass or bobbles a trap, she turns right around and knocks in a goal. So, ya know, shuts me right the hell up, no complaints here
I'll be interested to see that (yes, I really am David...actually eager to see some stats!).
Not at the match tonight: no way to get there from where I live (Aumsville) that didn't involve parking my motorcycle somewhere sketchy and possibly riding home in the rain. Had a pretty bad car accident on the way home from the Houston match. Like "upside down in a ditch with the roof partly collapsed" bad. Car's a write-off...me, not quite.
Since the goal the Thorns seem determined to throw passes away. Lots of little lateral dinks and drops, but the final pass forward is wasted.
Scary moment in the 21st minute; Kling and Brunn pass back to Bixby under heavy pressure and Bix passes directly out to Racing. Luckily McDonald(?) fumbles the cross.
So I got to the shed early enough to see munchkins playing in the north end 18 and got some intense nostalgia. Bear with me here; isn’t it time for a Throwback Night?
$6 Widmers. Foam piggybanks and cheap plastic crap. Munchkin vs Mascot soccer at halftime. Thorns in the cheapo Nike rec league red-with-the-white-bar jersey.

Morgan screaming at the ref from the ground... love it lol
I can see why she was pissed; took a boot right in the breastbone. But it was a pure accident as the defender tumbled. Not a foul or anything the referee could affect.
And all lip readers enjoyed that "Kling moment," too...
This ref has been shit. First time I've said that this season, surprisingly.
I am usually not very charitable towards officials and I didn’t think he was atrocious. Struggling with VAR, but so are a lot of these refs
He’s been a little over exuberant with the whistle, but I think he’s got all the yellows correct.
Just not enough of them, I'd say.
Pretty sloppy in possession closing this out...
Been pretty sloppy all night, tho.
Would like a Moultrie sub around now?
Think we’ve used our three windows, tho.
Nally came in at the half, which is free. Menges and Leon together. Didn't D'Aquila and Rodriguez enter together? So we should still have one.
But the total bodies maxes out at five, tho, right? So we’ve had our five.
Yes. I just did that math too. Not used to the Thorns needing two backline subs.
I had forgotten that the halftime sub doesn’t count. So that’s only two, yes. Probably going to see a timewasting sub with the long injury time.
Actually, we just can't count. That's five subs already.

Izzy striker minutes!
YES!
Leon fights clear and her seeing-eye cross finds Weaver back post for the brace.
VAR check
Where was the hand? Hate how they don’t show it
Looked like it popped up as she was fighting thru the defenders. Just a tap, but enough.
Yeahh, I have no idea what the handball rule even is tbh
I think if one of the defenders hadn’t raised a hand it might have gone uncalled. It was a real ticky-tacky foul.
Handball on Leon, no goal
Watching the VAR screen replay on the broadcast: correct call.
Rocky and D’Aquila prepping
Probably Sinc and Smith at 70’
Anyone know what happened to Sincy's arm/wrist?
Dunn is outrageously good on the half turn with that low center of gravity
Leon for Sugita.
Hina's played a lot of minutes lately. Smart sub.
Brunn down no contact…
Brunn walks straight off. Menges in.
This has....not been Sam’s best game
That’s being kind. She’s giving the ball away like it was a head cold.
Careless defending in the 53rd minute. Bixby up strong to turn over.
Nally warming up.....whyyy
Reyes off

Sinc, too. She’s got a Waterbottle of Youth. I’d be eyeing her, tho; she often fades after the hour.
She’s been so shockingly good this year I’m not really quite sure what to think....She’s certainly earned her starting spot, at the very least!
Yeah, every time I groan that she’s too slow to catch a pass or bobbles a trap, she turns right around and knocks in a goal. So, ya know, shuts me right the hell up, no complaints here
Agreed. Still…the hour…
Coffey is one maybe 2 fouls away from a red.
Another great dummy! Hina(?) totally sells it and frees Weaver up for the tap-in, 2-nil at the half.
Yep: 'twas Hina. Good awareness to avoid forcing a shot and giving Morgan a sitter. Nice goal.
Nuki-waza, Hina-san!
Weaver reverting to her true self, refusing to get her body squared on crosses
But she can hit sitters...which isn't always the case!
When I review this one I’m going to track completed attacking passes and crosses. We’ve thrown away a lot…
I'll be interested to see that (yes, I really am David...actually eager to see some stats!).

Whoa! That's intense! Glad everyone is okay! RIP your car...
Yeah, hanging from the seatbelts wasn't how I'd envisioned spending my late Friday night!
Holy shit! Yikes! Glad you’re okay!
Next time let’s coordinate; park the scoot up outside our place and carpool in from North. Give you a place to store the helmet and leathers, too.
That'd be cool!
Or over the ball on shots. I have to reiterate what I said previously: lots to love about her game...technique isn't one of them.
Fantastic awareness Hubly there seeing the run and cleaning up Becky’s mistake
Yep. She’s been all over tonight.
Bruno’s been kinda crap tonight. Poor passes. Let that shot run thru her legs? Damn lucky Bixby pawed it wide.
This is one of the better halves Soph’s played in terms of connecting play, which is usually her weakness
Sinc! Granny’s been nipping at that Extra Strength Geritol again. Having a damn fine half…
She's having a turn back the clock night
She’s been *awesome* tho she should have another goal or two
Sinc shoulda squared that second chance to Soph
Hina was completely unmarked at the far post, too.
Pretty bang-bang tho. Not much time.
Yeah I don’t blame her for going for it

Yeah they’re not dealing with the press well at all.
SSDD?
Yep Sinc and Dunn need to drop back and help them play out. This is where Rocky is useful
Neither want to pull out of the attack and I get that. Need a true ACM/#10
This ref is not great
Nahhh they’ve earned every one of their cards so far.
It's the pauses and drop balls that aren't great.
I think the long pause was the VAR official was jawing at him on the Hubly contact. He has to at least listen.
Reyes has the teeeeeneist amount of Po energy to her lol
Soph pulls pikkujamsa’s hammy, shocking squares instead of shooting, Dunn dummies into the path of Sinc for the finish
Brilliant run and cross from Smith and dummy from Dunn, Sinc w the opening goal in the 3rd minute.
So I got to the shed early enough to see munchkins playing in the north end 18 and got some intense nostalgia. Bear with me here; isn’t it time for a Throwback Night?

Who’d be up for some old school NWSL..?
