Sinc and Beckie toward the end - slow it down and lock it down. Still little things that reflect in the coaching: Reyes trotting to take a throw-in, up 2 with 4 mins to go. Walk... slowly... carry the ball too far forward until the ref makes you go back... walk... slowly back. Weaver alone with the ball edge of their box with no targets, in stoppage time... go to the corner. Little stuff for sure, but clearly not something anyone has taught the youngsters yet.
Killing the clock on the field by playing keep-away is good strategy. Killing the clock by being overly slow to put the ball into play and delay of game is cheap, cowardly, unsportsmanlike. Respect to Reyes.
Given how our most famous go to the corner incident is Weaver getting hit in the face and getting a red card for her troubles, I don't think this team goes into many more corners.
I kinda disagree with both y'all. Being in no hurry to make a deadball play is everyday gamesmanship, not cheating. Cowardly and unsporting is faking an injury for time-wasting, or for cards.
And if the coaching strategy is dictated by the quality of the refereeing, we might as well not get off the bus. Going to the corner is the right thing to do at 90+1when no opportunity presents in front of goal. And besides, Weaver's red card got rescinded :-)
We really need to have another midfielder sit in with Coffey. I think we've seen the full backs a little less advanced, but they keep finding space in the pockets.
I thought she had some impressive touches every time she was on the ball; we just haven’t been going up that side much all night so she was otherwise a bit invisible.
One thing to watch: Feels like Hubly looks to play the way she's facing (usually directly into the press) too much- Gotta spread the field faster and with more precision.
Can I get a hell yes?!
Hell yes! At least one PTFC can take care of business and score goals.
After a frankly ugly 2-hour snoozefest from the Timbers, glad one side pulled it out tonight
Sinc is still so good when she isn’t trying to pace herself for a full game. Don’t understand why this hasn’t been the game plan all season

Eryk gets it
Thorns just put a stranglehold.....some might even say “a boot on the neck” in the second half. Awesome way to close it out
2-0, give me all the crow you've got!
They may yet concede a BS goal, but this is how you kill a game on the road

I'm super-happy to have these first-world problems.

The last 15 minutes have been a classic in that
Delighted with the win....but that last offside was fucking horrendous. Cannot make that error with VAR
Yes. A total detriment to every fantasy team in the STF fantasy league
What a game from Coffey by the way. Flawless second half.
Fair fucking play she's been outstanding as a sub
She really has
I think she might be on...
Morgan Fucking Weaver!!!!
Exhibit A for how the rotation should look every weekend.
Wahoo. That was pretty. Excellent patience by Weaver and a sharpshooters touch for Sinclair.
Liv starting. Good things will happen!
That kit is gold now. Good job thornies.
Thought that was on but I guess close enough not to overturn call on the field.
She was- If that mattered, I'd be livid
Yeah I just rewound and that shouldn’t even have been close with VAR. what’s the point of having it if we aren’t going to use it!
That was beautiful from weaver and perfect finish
We really need to have another midfielder sit in with Coffey. I think we've seen the full backs a little less advanced, but they keep finding space in the pockets.
Moultrie's gotta get herself more involved. Bit of an invisible performance so far.
Part of it is we're not using that side as much but yes. Some good stuff at times but just get on the ball a little bit more.
Alternatively, switch Weaver and Hina because Hina will come inside naturally.
It's worked best when Dunn's come back to help. Her ability to maintain possession is almost eerie.
Excellent win. Kind of a scrappy game on a lousy field but they got the job done.
Oh, that was lovely.
I would go Vasconcelos or Leon for Moultrie and move Hina into central midfield but I doubt he does that
Sinclair in for Moultrie is… a choice!
Rapinoe should really be booked for that
Yeah, Hina wants that one back.
Kling's having a rough day so far: errant passing, not moving particularly well. =/
She's been outrun a lot. She's been on constant emergency mode.
I love Moultrie telling Crystal F'n Dunn where she wants the ball.
SOPHHH
Good finish but she looked offside
They paused when the ball was well off the foot! Clearly onside!
Yeah.....
Ah...Soph
That's onside! That's a bad call!
Bixby!!!
Could someone please say how you are watching the game?
It’s not showing up on our Paramount+ feed.
Um...no comment. ;)
It’s on big CBS tonight
It's on cable on the CBS Sports Network.
Thanks
SINCYYYYYYYYY
Fuck yes
We've been really rushed in attack. Take a touch!
Some poor giveaways by Sinclair.
Game's gotten more under control since her and Becky came on tho
Yeah. Sinclair also getting on the ball more than Moultrie was.
Short minute Sinclair is better than long minute Sinclair. She's been lively.
Super sub is how we should have been using her all season.
Reyes really neat too
Lol Dunn miming a flop to Pinoe
Reyes for Quikka not Kling?
Kuikka has gone down a few times. Also played 90 Wednesday
True
Gaps in midfield have been less this half but that's in part because we've been much deeper
Norris, time to adjust buddy!
the answer: Christine Sinclair
Not great! Would have shifted Hina inside and let Leon bully her way through the last 20
Moultrie hasn't done much tho.
Yep, same.
This hasn't been Moultrie's best outing so maybe it's an unlikely improvement.
This is where we definitely miss Rocky. She's the most natural two-way midfielder in the team.
She was just starting to bloom too.
I thought she had some impressive touches every time she was on the ball; we just haven’t been going up that side much all night so she was otherwise a bit invisible.
Part of that is looking for the ball, which she can learn more.
Definitely, which is one of those things that needs longer stretches of play to really hone - World Cup absences should be good for her.
She played the full match the Wednesday and was great, so probably showing a bit of tiredness.
I hate the way we let them run unchecked at our goal on corners
Zonal marking is the devil
Ooff non-contact for Bella
Seattle subs have changed the game. Gotta respond.
Bennett going out wide I assume? Worried about kling now lol
Natu is really tucked in- Rapinoe has too much space.
She's worried because she doesn't really have CB support. It's all leaning over to cover Kling.
They need to stay on the attack.
Dammit Hina
Oh Hiinnaa
OMG. How did that miss? What a sequence.
Passing has been pretty ugly, thankfully for both sides. Everyone needs to clean up except maybe Coffey.
One thing to watch: Feels like Hubly looks to play the way she's facing (usually directly into the press) too much- Gotta spread the field faster and with more precision.
