Gotta say, not sure I fully agree with everyone's Norris criticism- I thought Hina and Dunn were getting completely overrun in the first part of the 2nd half, probably tired from all the pressing. I thought Vasconcelos was fine, though I would have preferred to see Rocky for Sinc earlier- that would be my biggest critique.
Even before the Smith goal, the Thorns had built up a nice spell of possession after the Current goal and Moultrie and D'Aquila brought some nice energy. I think we're underestimating how much that 1st half press tires out the midfield and wingers (bar Soph, apparently)- I personally don't mind some early subs.
Well. It’s hard to argue with a 4-1 win. Though Soph just put them on her back. I would like to see Sinc come off at half. I think that’s two games in a row where she looked good in the first half, noticeably different in the second half. I would like to see Weaver play 90 but at least 75-80.
That was part of it, I'd say. And she got caught reacting late on the goal...not something she does often (usually the opposite: she's a step ahead mentally), but no player is perfect and it happened at the worst time. More than that, though, I do think she was looking a bit fatigued from all the pressing and the physical play.
Probably the yellow was one of the reasons to sub Hina out. add being tired and some Current players were going very hard almost borderline violent on her.

Probably we may not agree on the timing for certain substitutions, perhaps subbing Rocky for Sinc some minutes earlier but Rocky coming into the match with her full energy against opponents a bit more tired may have been his reason, but we have to admit it worked.
We won 4-1, so maybe it doesn't matter in the end, but I wish we had Rocky starting, and going full pace and then have Sinc come in as the experienced super sub around the 75 minute when she can also go full bore, and be a terror like she was in the first half of the last game.
Agree with this. Rocky should be getting those starts, and Sinc should help the team see out games/wins. She's been a lot better these past two games, but that press has her tired for sure by the half...and I don't see her holding onto that form long into the season.
Still think against a better team, it doesn't work as well. No universe she should be going 75 minutes every game.
Norris was not at his best today. I don’t minds the time he subbed, we needed to change something up. I don’t know about some of the players he subbed though. Seemed to work though.
Morning everybody and let's celebrate the first game thread on the new site. Do new comments highlight in some way?

Do you reckon Hina had to play soft because of her yellow? I can't figure her losing the mark on the KC goal.

Goal differential of [takes off socks to do math] 7 after 2 played. Shield campaign on.

But we won 4-1, so...

On that goal with four on her a lot of for would have dived she was being mauled. But Soph is Soph.
I have absolutely no words lmao lmao lmao she's the best woso player I've ever watched. Absolute killer

His superstar bailed his ass out.
Well, let me be the first one to say how good the commenting went. Easy to see new comments and very smooth performance.
"I love coming to play in front of a crowd who hates us."
Hi, rest of league.
[Tap, tap] This thing on?
20 bad minutes but superb recovery. LFG
Yeah...I mean Sophia kinda papered over some dubious substitution moves, but no complaints.
Reyes on
Yaaayy
Also, pace picked up when Sinc came off. Who da thunk it.
I want a damn D'Aquila goal
I'm sure those will start to come in the next matches.
Sophia can make a coach look good.
See my last post, below...repeat as needed.
