Good result. Timbers should have wrapped it up within 5 minutes after the restart.
Quakes would be disappointed not to get any of the two PK calls. The handball just didn't have a clear enough angle to be overturned. The Mosquera challenge I don't know how it isn't a clear error because that is just such a difficult cal to see the contact.
I don’t think the first one is a pk, just a coming together in the box with both players running after the ball. The foul for me would be from Mosquera pulling Cowell back initially, which would then be a red card for DOGSO if called. But that usually isn’t the sort of thing that’s called. I think we’re lucky either way
The second one is hard to see, it looked like it might’ve hit the upper arm/shoulder area, which would make it not a hand ball. Definitely in the box though
Okay, I can’t stand it. Even after the game is well over, I just have to say that these Apple announcers were absolutely TERRIBLE. Good grief, they are under qualified to do high school matches.
Great video from Evander on the field, saying his celebration was from him being mad at himself for messing up two plays before where he gave the ball away. Love that mentality
He should be mad. He's way too casual with his passes several times a game, and tries to squeeze some in when it's obvious there's no opening. Great goal, of course.
Good second goal. Mora and boli going forward. Nieazgoda never again. Nobody celebrated with Evander and even he didn't celebrate but everyone celebrated with mora. Hhhhhmmmmmm. Looks like maybe Evander is an issue.
Yes, no more "feet of clay" Goda!!! He doesn't even seem to hustle much of the time and looks like he'd like to be somewhere else. I certainly like him to be somewhere else...
What a goal from Evander, and honestly happier with the second goal. Great play from Moreno to start, a wonderful ball from Loria (how often do we get to say that?) and LOVE that Mora gets his goal. Looked like a weight lifted off his shoulders. That all made me so damn happy
I tell ya, Mora always has been good and while maybe not super visible on the stat line in his comeback, it was obvious that he was moving well. His goal is one that I think only he makes on this team.
And I love Evander. Great goal (strangely unguarded, but hey, other teams get to get lost on defense too), but I love watching him get the ball while being super-physically guarded, stand still, help the defender to the ground through strength and will, and then make the defender get back up to re-guard him before passing to the open space. He just manhandles people, and it's great. He's not super fast, but he's smart and so much stronger than he looks.
It could all fall back apart next game, but I don't care. I like watching so much of this team and I think they're super close to putting it together.
And that yes, that juggle by Moreno to start Mora's goal was absurd. AppleTV didn't care to show it, but it was by far the team goal of the year. Just great to watch.
Yep, one reason I was hopeful Mora could come back after his injuries was because his athleticism wasn’t what made him great, it’s his brain and IQ. His movement is amazing and he uses his body so well. And he can place a shot really well
Nice win. They some things really well such as dogged defending. Holding these guys out is no small thing. Still not that good at passing to each other though. On the other hand, I was surprised by how often we came down with the ball on long balls. More than average I think. Still rely on hero ball and we got two heroes tonight. Still take it.
I just want to know if we practice combinations and working together as a team. They all look like inddividuals out there that are just playing on the same side of the pitch.
WOW. What a play from McGraw there. I hope that doesn’t go unnoticed, that is a phenomenal poke that saves a probable goal. That must’ve been extremely difficult to time too
Man I wish Evander had better players around him. He’s always trying to make things happen but our guys aren’t quite good enough to connect with him. Really hoping Santi comes on
Wasn’t just him, the whole team seemed somber. Teams took a picture together before the match too. Wonder if it has something to do with the shooting in Portland today?
We all love Asprilla but he provides zero support to Mosquera on our right side. He just wanders. Good think Mosquera is as good as he is. He's on a island.
To be honest, the entire team plays like they are each on their own indidivual island. And they've been doing this for the last sseveral seasons. And it has only gotten worse.
I watched Miami last night with Jake Zivin on the call; was happy for him. Our reward for giving Jake to the league is having Max Bretos and Brian Dunseth call our matches. Aren't we being punished enough with our ownership situation and incompetent coach?
Outside of the obvious players that will leave at the end of the year. I honestly wonder how many players will request a trade. I could see bravo asking.
Think it is fairly obvious by now that he and Gio do not see eye to eye. At this point, it is a toxic relationship. You said he looked pissed; guess the body language was telling...again?
He'll probably ask for a trade and knowing our FO, Bingham will be given all the chances in the world (again) to be the starter next season. We'll bring someone in as "competition". I have no idea about Sulte but rather go with the kid in that case.
So Bonnilla is gone..wonder what took so long. Now it's leagues cup. I'll just like not to finish last in our group; at least aim to finish with a few goals and not get shutout. At least we're playing the Quakes first so there's some hope.
Or folks just being bored and disinterested given the general state of the team. I have to admit that this season might just be the breaking point for many.
Our section was a little over half full, and nobody except us was standing (we're usually an all standing section). I would guess the actual attendance to be around 16-17K at most. I think last season and this season have indeed broken a lot of folks. We didn't opt in to the rest of this "tournament" but it'll be interesting to see what Wednesday's crowd looks like.
You're asking for our coach to start both Mora and Moreno. You might be pushing your luck. I do get your point but Gio ball has rarely trotted out a lineup with the best players - when available.
Not a clue but I guess that BIngham starting means Gio has benched Ivacic permanently. Wonderful. Our season is already a train wreck and our manager has decided to throw fuel onto the pyre.
Good result. Timbers should have wrapped it up within 5 minutes after the restart.

Great to see mora get one! Very happy for him, thought he was done. Should go for this league cup, chance to play against Messi
Yep, was so happy when that went in after all he's been through.
Okay, I can’t stand it. Even after the game is well over, I just have to say that these Apple announcers were absolutely TERRIBLE. Good grief, they are under qualified to do high school matches.
Okay, I feel better now.
Great video from Evander on the field, saying his celebration was from him being mad at himself for messing up two plays before where he gave the ball away. Love that mentality

Via Ryan Clarke: “He told me he was frustrated with how they couldn’t keep the ball. Was still feeling it in that moment, despite the goal.”
What a goal from Evander, and honestly happier with the second goal. Great play from Moreno to start, a wonderful ball from Loria (how often do we get to say that?) and LOVE that Mora gets his goal. Looked like a weight lifted off his shoulders. That all made me so damn happy
The Spanish call of Mora's goal was fantastic
I tell ya, Mora always has been good and while maybe not super visible on the stat line in his comeback, it was obvious that he was moving well. His goal is one that I think only he makes on this team.

Do we have a sub left so the new guy can come in? Or maybe he plays against Togres?
I think we have one sub left but not a sub window. We subbed Mora and Loria, then Santi, then Blanco
That shot by Mora...two defenders on him and he managed to shoot right past Daniel. Hmm.
MORENO STARTED THAT. God I missed him. Great ball from Loria and amazing hold off from Mora!!
Nice having Mora back! Great pass.
Bout damn time
Chucky!!!
So happy to see Moreno back on the field
Looks like Mora still getting his touch back but I like the idea
Moreno coming in; better late than never. But you gotta wonder...
Moreno in!
We used to play pretty soccer didn't we? I seem to remember it, but maybe it was just a dream. So, so tired of Gio-ball.
What happened to our new cb? Is he still "acclimating"? Or is Gio saving him for Wed?
If we can get insurance goal may see him.
Do we have goal at the practice pitch? Just curious. UGH!
Parades with a very rough touch on a great pass from Evander.
I just want to know if we practice combinations and working together as a team. They all look like inddividuals out there that are just playing on the same side of the pitch.
WOW. What a play from McGraw there. I hope that doesn’t go unnoticed, that is a phenomenal poke that saves a probable goal. That must’ve been extremely difficult to time too
I just wish we could get a first rate cb to accelrate his growth. I appreciate Zup but he's not exactly a top 5 cb in the league.
For a minute, Goda made me remember that he was out with those two tame shots that he took. Now he's off for Mora. Oh well.
Why the hell is Loria coming on instead of Moreno or Blanco?
Moreno must be DEEP in the doghouse.
Thought Niezgoda was going to score there. Too bad.
Other than the offside, I completely forgot Goda was out there.
Man I wish Evander had better players around him. He’s always trying to make things happen but our guys aren’t quite good enough to connect with him. Really hoping Santi comes on
I like that Bingham comes out to get balls but it seems like passing back to the keeper leads to loss of possession most of the time
What a goal. Curious why he didn’t celebrate
Wasn’t just him, the whole team seemed somber. Teams took a picture together before the match too. Wonder if it has something to do with the shooting in Portland today?
Good point. Don’t like to read too much into it but this tournament might be that important to the players.
Mls defense strikes again. Why does a guy like Evander who is not a no 9 shoot better than the guy who is supposed to be playing that role?
I mean that isn’t a shot you typically want your 9 taking.
Kills the spiders. I like that call.
So did he celebrate goals when he was in Europe?
Nice freaking goal Evander!
We all love Asprilla but he provides zero support to Mosquera on our right side. He just wanders. Good think Mosquera is as good as he is. He's on a island.
Asprilla looks slower after that injury
To be honest, the entire team plays like they are each on their own indidivual island. And they've been doing this for the last sseveral seasons. And it has only gotten worse.
I watched Miami last night with Jake Zivin on the call; was happy for him. Our reward for giving Jake to the league is having Max Bretos and Brian Dunseth call our matches. Aren't we being punished enough with our ownership situation and incompetent coach?
Outside of the obvious players that will leave at the end of the year. I honestly wonder how many players will request a trade. I could see bravo asking.
or switch agents like Moreno? And then ask for a trade?
They’re passing around us like we aren’t even there, and we can’t break the press
So what are Jazzy and Gio fighting about now? I'm so tired of this. If Bingham is our "best" GK, we have a big issue (obvious).
Anybody know what Boli has? I haven't heard of him getting injured. Hope it's a little thing.
I think so. In the autograph line he again said he wasn't playing and again looked pissed.
He’s injured but should be back Wednesday
I saw Ivacic out with his girlfriend at PCC Rock Creek on Wednesday night. Didn't seem to be any injury...
There is some weird vibes going on with this club and the locker room these days....
Thanks. That's good.
So Bonnilla is gone..wonder what took so long. Now it's leagues cup. I'll just like not to finish last in our group; at least aim to finish with a few goals and not get shutout. At least we're playing the Quakes first so there's some hope.
Thin crowd.
Everyone must have heard niezgoda was starting
😏
Plenty of good seats still available. Timbers really acted like people were going to pay $70+ for this.
Or folks just being bored and disinterested given the general state of the team. I have to admit that this season might just be the breaking point for many.
Our section was a little over half full, and nobody except us was standing (we're usually an all standing section). I would guess the actual attendance to be around 16-17K at most. 206 certainly wasn't full but at least the first few rows standing. I thought the enthusiasm was pretty good for a cup game.
PT...FC!!!
Probably tired of tried to create something and having no one who can pass or receive the ball much less shoot on goal. I'd be frustrated, too.
When mora is ready and Moreno comes back in. Look out. Evander also gets super frustrated with loria it seems.
You're asking for our coach to start both Mora and Moreno. You might be pushing your luck. I do get your point but Gio ball has rarely trotted out a lineup with the best players - when available.
Wtf was that?
Calf injury. Not serious.
Resting him up for League games?
Not a clue but I guess that BIngham starting means Gio has benched Ivacic permanently. Wonderful. Our season is already a train wreck and our manager has decided to throw fuel onto the pyre.
Injured.
