My husband and I were season ticket holders since the beginning, and Emily was always our favorite player throughout all the years. We loved her dependability and all she seemed to stand for. So we were very disappointed to learn she was the player involved in the debacle with RW, especially after all this team had been through. We expected better of Emily. It's bittersweet to see her moving on. We wish her well but in a way we said goodbye to her a while ago already.

Feel this way also actually. Wish I could say more nice things, but after her standing up for MP while Mana and Sinead were actively talking about the harm he caused (she could've just said nothing) and then, again, this thing with Rhian? Doesn't really seem to be a great teammate, in either case. Yeah, goodbye. Unfortunately. Before that though, she was one of the most solid CB's in the league who never got proper recognition...I'll def give her flowers there.

I agree that she came across as disappointingly tone-deaf in the aftermath of the FO scandals, and this from the most lit-minded of Thorns, who should've been most mindful of the power of words. I realize that from her perspective Paulson was likely heroically trying to keep the league viable by virtue of the Thorns' ability to draw the best numbers on the planet, but there came a point where that was rendered irrelevant by MP's proven cynicism and indifference, and she failed to publicly recognize that. And she and RW should have definitely realized they were crossing a line, and most particularly at that time. Having said all of that, she was a long-time favorite Thorn of mine, both for her endearingly gonzo sense of humor and for her hustle on the pitch. For several seasons, and particularly during the Sonnett years, I would always get nervous if I looked at the backline and I didn't see someone w/ her socks pulled down.
