Timbers Quarter-Season Check-In
Analyzing the Timbers' up and down start to the 2024 MLS season.
Although it seems like only yesterday that the Portland Timbers kicked off their 2024 MLS season with a 4-1 home drubbing of the Colorado Rapids, Portland has officially passed the quarter-way mark of the campaign after a matchday 10 loss to LAFC.
So with the winter transfer window now closed, and three-fourths of the season to play for, I thought it would be interesting to recap the Timbers’ year thus far.
What’s the ‘Sitch?
Through ten matchdays there has been a lot to like from Phil Neville’s new-look Timbers squad on the pitch — namely players wearing green putting the ball into the back of the net again! Conversely, keeping the ball out of the back of the net continues to plague a Timbers team whose defensive performances, and records, have left much to be desired in recent years.
With that in mind, let’s take a current look at how the Western Conference has shaped up:
