The past few months has been one that supporters wished they never had to go through. The emotions everyone has been feeling is excruciating and heartbreaking.
2024 was a brutal year for the club on the pitch, finishing sixth — tied for their worst ever finish in club history. Off the pitch, they had to say goodbye to Christine Sinclair, Becky Sauerbrunn, Meghan Klingenberg, and Kelli Hubly all in a span of a few months.
Their departures marked a true end of an era for the Rose City.
For the first time in awhile, there is tons of uncertainty.
In 2022, the Portland Thorns won their third star with an emphatic 2-0 win over the Kansas City Current.
What should have started a dynasty, was instead the start of the downfall.
