Sophia Smith & Sam Coffey are Olympic Champions

The Portland Thorns superstars are bringing home the Gold!

Emma Hayes and the USWNT have done it, they are the new Olympic champions! They’re bringing home the gold back where it belongs.

In the 57th minute, Mallory Swanson scored the game-winning goal that could be considered controversial. However, the goal was reviewed for a possible offside, and then confirmed and allowed.

Alyssa Naeher came up with save after save, the entire match. The USWNT did not allow a goal in the knockout stages. Her and Naomi Girma were massive in leading the defense which ended with four clean sheets in four matches, including the last three.

The Portland Thorns just added two more gold medalists in Soph Smith and Sam Coffey. After a heartbreaking end to her 2023 World Cup, the former NWSL MVP and superstar has shined brightly at the Olympics. After being left off the 2023 World Cup roster, Coffey has been the best six in the league and one of the best in the world. They can now call themselves Olympic champions and gold medalists!
