The Portland Timbers have completed the signing of Ecuadorian midfielder Joao Ortiz. The 28-year-old joins the Green & Gold from Ecuadorian developmental powerhouses Independiente Del Valle. Independiente Del Valle is one of the world’s best clubs for talent development, having developed the likes of Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion and Kendry Paez of Chelsea. Ortiz joins Portland on an contract through the end of the 2027 season, with a club option for 2028.
