Official: Reyna Reyes Signs Contract Extension Through 2026
The Fifth Overall Pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft signs an extension with the Portland Thorns through 2026.
In the 2023 NWSL Draft, the Portland Thorns had two picks (#5 and #12) in the first round. With their selection at #5, they selected D/MF Reyna Reyes out of Alabama.
She was touted as one of the best fullback prospects to ever be available in the draft. Reyes has been solid, dependable, and consistent in her rookie season for the Portland Thorns.
Reyna Reyes agreed to new contract terms and her option for the 2026 season was executed after her appearance in Portland’s match against the North Carolina Courage on Aug. 20.
In her rookie season, she has appeared in 21 games (10 starts) in all competitions. Reyes has scored two goals with one each in the NWSL Challenge Cup and regular season.
The first ever goal she scored was an equalizer against the San Diego Wave in stoppage time.
The Mexico International has already earned four caps with the senior team. She will now play in 2023 W Gold Cup qualifier matches against Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago. Those matches will be on September 22 and 26, respectively.

“Reyna has come into this group and made an immediate impact on the field as a rookie,” said Thorns FC head coach Mike Norris. “She has shown her attacking qualities on the ball and tremendous tenacity in her defending.
