Official: Olivia Moultrie is back for 2024
In a decision that should surprise no one, the Portland Thorns are bringing back soccer phenom Olivia Moultrie.
NO SHOCKER! One of the most talented young stars in the league will be back.
Olivia Moultrie will be returning to the Portland Thorns for 2024.
Portland Thorns FC today announced that they have exercised midfielder Olivia
Moultrie’s contract option for the 2024 season.
She is in her third season with the club, appearing in 18 matches with 9 starts for 2023. Moultrie has taken her game to another level this season and has recorded two goals and three assists in regular season play. In total, she has played in 41 regular season games with 20 starts, tallied five goals and eight assists in her NWSL and Portland Thorns FC career.
Don’t forget, Olivia Moultrie also has one of the best ‘mic drop’ moments of all time.
She has opened the doors for young NWSL stars like Jaedyn Shaw, Chloe Ricketts, Melanie Barcenas, and so many more in the future.

Also, I'm going to say it: Sam Coffey is better than Andi Sullivan. Coffey is roughly Sullivan's equal on defense and is better in attack.
I say this after Sullivan frustrated me again and again over these two friendlies the way she has before: she almost always passes backwards. When she'd get the ball, I would say to myself, "You can do it Andi! You can pass forward this time!" ... and then nope, backwards it went again. She was where attacks went to die. If she were as much of a wrecking ball on defense as Ertz, I'd be more accepting (Ertz wasn't a very good passer either), but she's not. Coffey isn't an Ertz-grade wrecking ball either, but she's a much better passer going forward.
Great quotes in here from our favorite heel, Pinoe.
