Timbers haven't clinched a "playoff berth" . They've clinched the ridiculous, participation trophy play-in game to decide who gets to be cannon fodder for the top seed in the west. It's a crass, money-grab game to unjustly reward mediocre teams, and should not count as making the playoffs.
