The head coach of the Portland Timbers, Phil Neville, refers to young Argentine star David Ayala as a rottweiler.

"He looks nice, but not on the field," said Neville, referring to Ayala in a conversation last season.

Ayala is given that nickname because of his style of play. He is ruthless in defense, has a motor that just never stops, and refuses to ever back down from any challenge.

Although he has been tremendous in defense, Ayala has been impressing with his playmaking as well.
