My sentiments are likely mirrored by people all across the world: how do you say goodbye to one of the greatest players to ever play the game?
Christine Sinclair is officially hanging up her boots at the end of this NWSL season and if you are like me you are probably in mourning a little bit. This week she will play her final match at Providence Park, and I’m still wrapping my mind around that idea.
I feel like for some of the other players who have retired this year (Megan Rapinoe, Marta [from international soccer], Alex Morgan) there have been big moments or specific things that make them easy to highlight. And while yes, Sinclair has the obvious (she’s a goal-scoring machine) she’s also just been a silent force in women’s soccer for so long so it’s easy to take her for granted.
