Nice job guys. I don't have a lot of expectations, but I am excited.
The only way I would run a 4-2-3-1 is if my midfield could control the game and I could trust my two (yikes) CBs. Because we saw how that went last year. As for the former issue, Ortiz strikes me as a 6, not an 8 in the way he plays, and it remains to be seen if he can handle the MLS, and thus, the midfield is a big question mark for me. We'll see. As for the latter, we saw how two CBs worked out last year and we have the same cast. The one wild card is Surman. I'm betting on the fact that he is the real deal. He is big, he is fairly fast and he seems pretty technical. He paired with Zup, I think, in the Seattle game we won the cup on, and it worked. So, if he can pair with Zup or Miller, and our midfield is better - which I question - then roll with the 4-2-3-1. Until then, roll with three in the back.
In this case, Moreno will be the odd man out, unless he is subbing in for Costa in a 3-5-2. And Antony is somewhat shortchanged as a wing back from his preferred wing spot. But if I were the coach, I'd see what a little defensive structure could do to help the team overall before I would worry about Moreno getting minutes.
Knowing Evander would entertain me was a reason to tune in last year. This year I'm not sure what to expect, so I don't have high expectations. But I will be tuning in. You may be right about the team, and you may be wrong. We'll see. If it isn't worth watching, most people won't buy a ticket. So you don't have much to worry about.
